  1. Prominent website promotes a thief selling stolen goods.

"Google’s AI search summaries will now quote Reddit"

Who will it quote? Reddit treats users as cows, and milk their words, "letting" AI be trained on reddit users.

    Cows. Mooo.

  2. THE PEOPLE DO NOT YEARN FOR AUTOMATION

Software brain is changing the world, but most people still aren’t buying.

Source: BEWARE SOFTWARE BRAIN | The Verge

I really like this explanation from Nilay Patel on “Software Brain” and how disconnected tech folks are from how “normies” live their lives. I hope the right people get the message.

  3. Apparently, #Amazon will soon be throwing older #Kindle devices completely off their infrastructure. This is probably an effort to coerce people into buying newer readers. (Those historically execrably dire movies aren't going to pay for themselves, after all.)

  4. This is why #TheVerge sucks now BTW. They’ve emphasized appeasing #BlueAnon and screwing over the people who made their videos and forgot that the whole point of why people liked them in the first place was that they were cool people with good insights in the tech and social media space.

But they drove away fantastic contributors like #backlon and #BeccaFarsace, who killed it at both journalism as well as review videos, and didn’t replace them with anyone with equivalent talent.

Now the #YouTube channel is pretty much just podcast clips, and the website (which, to be fair, hasn’t declined as poorly) feels less like a place for journalism and news than if you ran a competing site like #Engadget through the filter of #KaraSwisher’s glasses.

  5. Google Sucks Shit: According to The Verge, Google search is now replacing headlines—those things we painstakingly craft—with inaccurate, AI generated AI slop, often changing the meaning entirely in what the company calls a "small and narrow experiment."

It changed a Verge headline from "I used the ‘cheat on everything’ AI tool and it didn’t help me cheat on anything” to “‘Cheat on everything’ AI tool.” This is bad. Google search was the internet. It's a fucking verb.

  11. The New York Times sues Perplexity for producing ‘verbatim’ copies of its work – The Verge

The New York Times sues Perplexity for producing ‘verbatim’ copies of its work

The NYT alleges Perplexity ‘unlawfully crawls, scrapes, copies, and distributes’ work from its website.

by Emma Roth, Dec 5, 2025, 7:42 AM PS, Emma Roth is a news writer who covers the streaming wars, consumer tech, crypto, social media, and much more. Previously, she was a writer and editor at MUO.

The New York Times has escalated its legal battle against the AI startup Perplexity, as it’s now suing the AI “answer engine” for allegedly producing and profiting from responses that are “verbatim or substantially similar copies” of the publication’s work.

The lawsuit, filed in a New York federal court on Friday, claims Perplexity “unlawfully crawls, scrapes, copies, and distributes” content from the NYT. It comes after the outlet’s repeated demands for Perplexity to stop using content from its website, as the NYT sent cease-and-desist notices to the AI startup last year and most recently in July, according to the lawsuit. The Chicago Tribune also filed a copyright lawsuit against Perplexity on Thursday.

The New York Times sued OpenAI for copyright infringement in December 2023, and later inked a deal with Amazon, bringing its content to products like Alexa.

Perplexity became the subject of several lawsuits after reporting from Forbes and Wired revealed that the startup had been skirting websites’ paywalls to provide AI-generated summaries — and in some cases, copies — of their work. TheNYT makes similar accusations in its lawsuit, stating that Perplexity’s crawlers “have intentionally ignored or evaded technical content protection measures,” such as the robots.txt file, which indicates the parts of a website crawlers can access.

Perplexity attempted to smooth things over by launching a program to share ad revenue with publishers last year, which it later expanded to include its Comet web browser in August.

    Related

“By copying The Times’s copyrighted content and creating substitutive output derived from its works, obviating the need for users to visit The Times’s website or purchase its newspaper, Perplexity is misappropriating substantial subscription, advertising, licensing, and affiliate revenue opportunities that belong rightfully and exclusively to The Times,” the lawsuit states.

https://t.co/op5s4ZiSwh version 0.1 is now live.

Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.

    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 28, 2025

Jeden lider, reszta daleko w tyle. Aplikacja ChatGPT zarobiła 53 razy więcej niż Grok

This article from #TheVerge on #AdinRoss' #Kick stream with #Trump and #xQc should serve as a good reminder to all of us that they will never let the facts or journalistic integrity get in the way of whatever narrative they want to spin. This is why I don't really read them anymore.

They didn't even need to lie about #AdinRoss to smear #Trump in the article either. This is a dude who chummed it up with #AndrewTate, a convicted sex trafficker, after all.
