#Signal bleibt beste Kompromisslösung. #XMPP und #Matrix kriegen von uns weiterhin Bestwertung, wurden aber aus den "Empfehlungen für Eilige" vom Newcomer #DeltaChat (nach intensiver Prüfung und Diskussion) verdrängt.
Die Kriterien sind überarbeitet und übersichtlicher dargestellt. Dank an alle, die mitgearbeitet haben!

I *had* never used it ... until I (sort of) *had to* use it.I'd been a very happy Signal user. But then joining a community (I strongly support) that entirely communicates (almost exclusively) via WhatsApp (and some public facing stuff via Facebook) had meant the end of it.
Gladly on my GrapheneOS phone I was able to use a throw-away SIM (foreign, from a recent EU trip) to register a WhatsApp account in an entirely isolated user profile.
It is painful to have to use WhatsApp (for that one thing) now. But it is also painful – depending on one's community – to *not* use it.
The big question is this: How can one (peacefully) motivate such a community to 'get off' of WhatsApp/Facebook without alienation and offending them? Certainly educated arguments don't work. :-(

I use #Molly and it works perfectly for me. I've been able to link several devices when it was impossible with #Signal .
The only thing is that I think there are not updates as often as for Signal. -

Two days stuck trying to transfer a #Signal account from an old Android phone to a new one. The solution? Turning off Wi-Fi on both phones: then the Wi-Fi Direct magically kicked in and the transfer started 🤷♂️ It's supposed to 'just work' over a common Wi-Fi network, but for whatever reason it just wouldn't for me. Maybe this will help someone else. This process has been *far* more painful that it should have been.

Und wenn du deine Meta-Konten im "Account Center" verknüpfst, verzichtest du laut AGB auf noch mehr Privatsphäre.
All das ist schlussendlich nicht wirklich neu, sondern lässt sich schlussendlich daraus ableiten, dass Meta sicher alle Daten auswertet, die sie in die Finger kriegen. Als Nutzerin hat man keine Möglichkeit, sich dieser Datensammlung zu entziehen. Es sei denn, man wechselt auf #Signal oder #Threema (und motiviert sein Umfeld, es einem gleichzutun).

Je vois des informations très intéressantes sur Delta Chat et je me demandais. Ne serait ce pas envisageable que les développeuses et développeurs d' @element , @signalapp et @delta travaillent ensemble pour les rendre interopérables ? Comme ça ces alternatives se soutiendraient et pourraient se renforcer les unes et autres.
