A colourful collection of four butterflies, seen during my walk last Sunday along an old lane :-)
The Brimstone vaguely resembles the leaf it sits on. I saw it land, then lost sight of it for a while. The others were more conspicuous.

COMMON BLUE
The heat of the May bank holiday and half-term brought good numbers of Common Blues locally. I was surprised last night to still find a few, given the recent heavy rain and winds we have had. Some were looking a little worse for wear, but this one was still looking in great condition. I never tire of photographing these.

Here’s a shot from the same cemetery a couple of years ago. They seem a bit later this year with my 1st sighting coming in June and this image being end of May. Numbers seem low at the moment, I hope they pick up.
There is a lot to be said about being able to walk to a local patch and have a couple of hours peace and quiet.
A few dog walkers about but most people are oblivious the the beauty that’s around.
