Piloted by a German NGO, it is showing how European authorities collaborate with militias to harass people crossing the Mediterranean (among the world’s most surveilled stretches of water, in the search for weapons, migrants, or drugs. This makes Europe’s collective failure to prevent record deaths more striking. )

Brown Pelican

I found this pelican down along the ocean in La Jolla in Southern California. The bird was nesting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He/she wasn't very far from where I was at but didn't seem to be worried about my presence.
The look in the pelicans eyes was mesmerizing as it looked up at me.
