#HotTake on #VideoGames: I agree that we should stop calling #AdventureGames that lean heavily into their ability-gaining elements #Metroidvania games. The name implies similarities to #Metroid and #Castlevania that might not be there, and also that they invented elements which were also in the original #Zelda, #Adventure, and many other 80s adventure games.

Generally speaking, gaining abilities to access new areas is one of those true-to-life elements. It'd be like calling every arcade racing game an "F-Zero clone" or every First Person Shooter a "Doom Clone" when even Wolfenstein was far from the original FPS.

I was pleasantly surprised with this game. And it was a demo. Ghost Hunting Journal. Try it out!
