First game was decent, maybe "good". This sequel is, IMO, unplayable (and I do like adventure games; they're my favourite genre). I really don't get the acclaim for this one.

The very first game set in this universe, Amerzone - though not part of the Syberia storyline - is one of my faves. Especially the modern remaster. Play that instead.

The name implies similarities to #Metroid and #Castlevania that might not be there, and also that they invented elements which were also in the original #Zelda, #Adventure, and many other 80s adventure games.

Generally speaking, gaining abilities to access new areas is one of those true-to-life elements. It'd be like calling every arcade racing game an "F-Zero clone" or every First Person Shooter a "Doom Clone" when even Wolfenstein was far from the original FPS.

Das nächste kurze Adventure, sogar kostenlos: The Sphere (leider nur via Steam)

Klassische Point-and-Click-Kost mit reiner Mausbedienung. Gut umgesetzte Pixelgrafik mit überraschend aufwendigen Effekten und eine ebenso gekonnte musikalische Untermalung. Letzteres ist wenig überraschend, denn der Entwickler komponiert normalerweise die Musik für Spiele anderer.

Nettes Detail: Retro-Pixelgrafik, aber bei Bewegung der halbvollen Bierflasche aus dem Inventar mit dem Mauszeiger schwappt die Flüssigkeit darin physikalisch korrekt. 🙂

Die Story ist breiter angelegt als die Spiellänge erwarten lässt, die Aufmachung auf professionellem Niveau. Bei The Sphere war ich wirklich betrübt, als nach nicht ganz anderthalb Stunden bereits das Ende erreicht war. Hätte gerne weitergehen dürfen, das hatte alles noch deutlich mehr Potenzial. Trotzdem: Keine Reue, wirklich gut gemacht, Herr Lückgen!
