I’ve been listening to the Wayfarer series (starts with A long way to small angry planet) and it’s really hit a lot of interesting aliens and alien cultures.
The fourth book (The Galaxy and the ground within) doesn’t even have any human characters, and it’s a lot about the different alien cultures.
Like the alien that doesn’t have ears, so only can communicate with other species using an implanted “talk box”.
