Also reading this, I didn't realise that the author was probably from the US until I read the word 'Plow'.
But later he uses the word 'Shan't' and that make me question my assumption.
Do people in the #US use shan't regularly? I feel it's more of a UK thing.

In English, I code-switch only on rare occasions -- mostly when I'm around extended relations whose Okie dialect is heavy with Okie accent.

One quirk of the #english language I've always found disconcerting is the use of "dad" and "mom" for pet owners. Swedish has unique gendered names for pet owners nothing like the words for father or mother.
I love #pets like all family members but still find the use of mom, dad, son, daughter etc to be just plain weird, creepy even.
Are there other specific words for "fe|male pet owner" to use that still convey a family vibe?
