They parsed the samples with the #ERG, a large-scale #HPSG grammar for #English, written by Dan. They could show that the text by humans is more diverse, that certain low frequency constructions do not appear in LLM-generated texts and that the LLMs are more similar to each other than to the individual authors.

@MuhammadFreeSoftware It's not weird, far from it. English is not my native language but it has been my first for a long time now. I use multiple languages in my daily life, and read in more, but 90% of my life happens in English. My thoughts and dreams are almost always in English too.
There's a lot of research on the benefits of using a second language. It's suspected to delay Alzheimer in old age for example. In processing trauma stepping aside from the language in which events happened helps take distance from the trauma. When producing your thoughts in a second language you assess it differently and typically end up with better results.
I also think speaking a second language, especially what is essentially a global language, indicates a desire to learn about the world and connect with it.
Just here on Mastodon, there are posts in just about every language but the vast majority is English. It's the lingua franca of the internet and much of entertainment and culture.
Even in a country that is particularly proud of its language and culture, such as Italy, you see more and more English popping up. If you go around town it's likely you'll find a few English signs and brand names.And yes, depending how intensive you use a language your first language can be replaced with a second language.

Horse-powerThese phrases all show contempt or disregard to the individuality and/or suffering of members of non-human species: think about how you would treat such aphorisms playing off of cultural or racialized stereotypes
And then there's the dozens of species names that are just straight up insults to call someone.

English is my second language, which I use more than others in the last years, but my formal studies had ended long ago and I navigate mostly by the internalized understanding - close to intuition - rather than by recalling the exact rules.
In the previous toot I used a phrase "it is important to continue doing X", posted it and started to ruminate if this a sound English construct.
Isn't it "it is important continuing to do X"? Hm, it doesn't *feel* right, as the first one, but I don't know for sure.
This and similar cases make me to consult with the https://english.stackexchange.com (which is more valuable to me than the SO lately), to reinforce (for that phrase) that "intuition" or find out I was wrong.
"Never stop learning" is fun, but being anxious about everything isn't :)
