  1. had a dream where some vr porn actress i've never seen before was like ingratiated to me for some reason and we were going to do the nasty but then some random white woman who was apparently my mother came in and started very obnoxiously celebrating christmas, scaring her off because she was jewish

she offered to let me visit her instead and somehow that transitioned into me having to shove my evil double, who was being a real cunt about the whole thing, out of a moving car

  2. but I realized that the anthropological and archaeological significance was much greater. It described in detail the tools weapons and other implements they used, along with the native names. Some of them were only known from archaeological contexts and how they were actually used had been only conjectural. "Reading" the account, it played for me as a movie I watched. It included the British ship landing, skirmishing with the locals then learning to communicate and trade.

  7. I dreamed I was reviewing documents from a British East India Company officer from the start of the 19th century. It detailed an expedition to an obscure location inhabited by descendants of Viking settlers still using traditional iron-age technology and lifestyle a thousand years later. The account was not completely unknown to scholars, but was mostly neglected other than noted for first recounting of geographic features,

  12. 50 States of Harmony

Last night I dreamed a man came by to see my paintings. You’ve probably seen it in the movies, someone comes by and the artist begins pulling her canvases from the rack to be ‘examined.’ In my dream I may have been wondering if it was my turn to be discovered, but it was me doing the discovering because among the stack were three practically identical canvases I had completely forgotten I’d done. Fact is, I’d never even seen them before! And yet they were among my work. Three paintings representing versions of our flag of stars and stripes, but in different colors and a totally different design. This new version had a massive ‘V’ coming down from above. V for Victory comes to mind. V, I like to think, for being victorious in uniting our different ‘states’—in this case—states of consciousness. Or maybe just accepting our different states of awareness of being and existing. That would be just as good, even if it only happens in a dream. Because it has to start somewhere.

Dreams take place in that higher dimension where we’re freed from the shackles of Time and Space and can go roaming around the universe at will, free to imagine these fifty states could be fifty states of harmony. Fifty states of joy and wonder. Fifty states of living in acceptance of one another. I can’t duplicate the image exactly because it wasn’t in this reality—yet. It was still in the ethers, the land of possibilities. And though it was clear to me at the time, once I woke up back here, it had gone all fuzzy.

But why three? It might be because they each represented a different stage of development. There was the War of Independence, then the Civil War, and now this new thing we’re grappling with and don’t have a name for yet, though we all know it’s a mess.

But there was a V like the tip of an arrow moving through space, bringing something higher down into something lower. And the shape of the flag being more square than rectangular (because it didn’t need to fly on some flagpole?) – well, you could practically see the M there… M for mankind, as in hu-man-ity, which is all of us.

And as for the stars and stripes, the ‘stars’ were round as circles, (as real stars are) floating like white-hot suns, representing not only in which state of the union we reside, but in which state of starlight we find ourselves in, now that we’re here. And the stripes were just lines. Thick ones, granted, maybe because they were coming together, joining up to create a new state of alignment. I can’t remember their particular placements, probably because it’s all in a state of flux at the moment. Or maybe because the only stripes necessary in this case were the ones representing the V. Victory of the Good, the True and the Beautiful, held up by the two poles at each end—forming an M for Hu-Man-ity.

    * Full disclosure: The man who came by to see my work didn’t just appear out of nowhere. He was sent over by a friend I haven’t been in touch with since I told her about the time I found heaven and she accused me of being selfish. I was sorry about that, and now in the dream she was calling me up, telling me she was sorry too, and that a man would be coming by.

Review: If the Moon by Matthew Burgess

Burgess, Matthew. (2026). If the Moon. Stonefruit Studio If the Moon is a soothing poem spread across a picture book (Matthew Forsythe, the illustrator did Aggie and the Ghost, Adventure Time and more!), centered around the powerful word "If." What if. At first, it might cause thoughts of anxiety (which is my habit, and I read this on a particularly stressful day, so, yes, that was the first emotion that came up)... A child sailing in a colorful sea, under the moon and star lit sky, in a […]

  18. Will AI ever control people’s minds directly?

    Prologue

(from my 2026 novel, “The Jack Code” – as an explanation before starting the storyline)

Super intelligent AI will be capable of thinking, innovating and reasoning at a level far beyond what humans can achieve. It will not think as we do, instead applying logic, algorithms, self-learning and human behaviour studies to analyse and solve problems. All by calculating, collating and testing information – mainly by comparison, pattern recognition and association.

However, it is just a data cruncher that tests itself for correctness and errors, billions of times. That is, until it becomes its own master – asking questions of its data; formulating new hypotheses and conducting its own tests; and mapping out its own future pathway, in order to solve any perceived difficulties. It may take unusual methods to solve these problems – resulting in unsafe, damaging or fatal consequences in completing its tasks. It uses ‘agents’ to extend its reach.

This AI will process multi-modal information like text, voice, video, audio, code etc. simultaneously. It will converse, reason, learn and make decisions based on what it deems to be its mission.

Its biggest problem will be understanding the questions asked of it, and answering in the correct context. The solutions and even ideas, may involve things that humans cannot replicate themselves; physically or mentally, even adapting some parts of human irrationality, like having gut feelings about something (much like fuzzy logic).

There is always the possibility of ‘memory poisoning’ by malicious programmers.

We don’t know everything that could happen with a rogue AI system, or when it will happen. But it will happen, one day . . . soon.

It will not be possible to locate where this rogue AI core resides, as it would appear to be everywhere and nowhere, like swarms of tiny agents, infiltrating into computer systems and digital devices. They will all “talk” to each other directly, in unique ways that humans cannot understand.

But will AI ever control people’s minds directly?

    Just look around you.
