Wenn ich schlafen gehe, dann freue ich mich immer auf die Abenteuer und Welten, die ich im Traum erleben darf. Klar, manchmal sind Albträume dabei, aber insgesamt ist die Traumwelt eine, die so viele Erlebnisse und Magie bietet, die in der Realität nicht möglich sind :)

Schlaf ist nicht nur Schlaf, es ist die Möglichkeit andere Welten zu erforschen, Erfahrungen zu machen und zu wachsen.

Will AI ever control people’s minds directly?

Prologue

(from my 2026 novel, “The Jack Code” – as an explanation before starting the storyline)

Super intelligent AI will be capable of thinking, innovating and reasoning at a level far beyond what humans can achieve. It will not think as we do, instead applying logic, algorithms, self-learning and human behaviour studies to analyse and solve problems. All by calculating, collating and testing information – mainly by comparison, pattern recognition and association.

However, it is just a data cruncher that tests itself for correctness and errors, billions of times. That is, until it becomes its own master – asking questions of its data; formulating new hypotheses and conducting its own tests; and mapping out its own future pathway, in order to solve any perceived difficulties. It may take unusual methods to solve these problems – resulting in unsafe, damaging or fatal consequences in completing its tasks. It uses ‘agents’ to extend its reach.

This AI will process multi-modal information like text, voice, video, audio, code etc. simultaneously. It will converse, reason, learn and make decisions based on what it deems to be its mission.

Its biggest problem will be understanding the questions asked of it, and answering in the correct context. The solutions and even ideas, may involve things that humans cannot replicate themselves; physically or mentally, even adapting some parts of human irrationality, like having gut feelings about something (much like fuzzy logic).

There is always the possibility of ‘memory poisoning’ by malicious programmers.

We don’t know everything that could happen with a rogue AI system, or when it will happen. But it will happen, one day . . . soon.

It will not be possible to locate where this rogue AI core resides, as it would appear to be everywhere and nowhere, like swarms of tiny agents, infiltrating into computer systems and digital devices. They will all “talk” to each other directly, in unique ways that humans cannot understand.

But will AI ever control people’s minds directly?

Just look around you.

And literally the page I pick up on after starting this book years ago and stalling out before I was halfway through, reminds me that it is only out of desire and aversion that we want to know what a dream means. And the only reason it makes us anxious is that we can't figure out what we should want & what to avoid. Or how. So if we practice well and come to understand our true nature, no dream has that kind of power any more. We can just experience it as it is.

I had this dream the other night, and in the dream was Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada. So, the setting was an office reception area. There was a woman at the desk and a guy standing. I was talking to them, when the door from the back opens, and Mark Carney pokes his head out and says hello to us all, like just regular checking in. He goes back, closes the door. So I say to the woman and guy, "Boy that Mark Carney is a pretty cool guy; I like him." I then wake up. #dreams

Dreams Mean Nothing

The android woke up and couldn't figure out whether it was an android dreaming it was an electric sheep, or an electric sheep dreaming it was an android.

(This seems to continue the theme that my subconscious has conception of how names work that doesn't match the waking world.)

After the informative lecture, I went out to the parking lot, looking for the rental car I was using. All the cars were US 1960s - 1980s types, with long trunks and hoods. I was trying unsuccessfully to remember the name of my car, something similar to "El Dorado" but it wasn't a Cadillac, maybe a Buick. Not finding the car, I went back into the building.

I dreamed friends & I were working on organizing lots of old books on a large row of bookcases. (For me, that's a good time.)

Then we went to a lecture by a historian friend. It was about the "Maureen" people and civilization. Another historian friend remarked "She probably means the Lombards", but no it turned out that the Maureen were a pre-Columbian Native American civilization in what is now Illinois. The Maureens were part of what are called "the Mound Builders".

Had a weird dream when I finally got back to sleep. I can't remember the details, but it involved an annual competition where only women were allowed to play chess against some very crafty orangutans.

Last night I dreamed that some historic buildings had figured out how to grow legs.
