Pay Equity
It’s a simple enough concept. One that you would think would fit with the kiwi approach to life. One that would have allowed 130,000 working families better cope with the cost of living crisis.
But then, just as the first of the 33 cases were finally to be resolved, this government torpedo’ed everything.
They feared the backlash so much that when they were planning this they just called it ‘Project 10’. All papers were distributed by hand to prevent them ‘falling into the wrong hands’ i.e. ours. Like so many other important matters they also forced it though under urgency to prevent debate.
Did none of them think “if we’re acting like this maybe this isn’t right”?
Just remember that when you go to the polling booths later this year, and remind others as well.

The Luxon government will adopt urgency to scratch its arse cheeks but anything that will benefit more than a few rich businessmen; women or young families or the disabled, can wait and be used as a bribe for the next election campaign

From about minute 18, Jenna Lynch finally (far too gently) calls him out on lying about his experience in business. Incredible that no one has ever done this before #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

After listening to the latest episode of The Fold about the how the organization that makes the news are now financially held up by sports, I decided to make a formal complaint about the huge increase in sports in the non sports section of the 6 o clock news. But alas it does not qualify due to it being up to 'Editorial Discretion' what they cover ...not sure how many people care about sports watering down the news, or still watch tv news even, but heh I tried https://thespinoff.co.nz/podcasts/the-fold #nzpol

I spoke with a number of Asian parents at one of my kids football game on Saturday.
All of them are appalled and incredibly offended by Winston Peters' racist slurs and as long as #National and #Act refuse to rule out working with #NZFirst then expect a giant shift of Asian voters to NZ Labour in the upcoming #NZPol election.
The irony is, they seemed to be more offended by Luxon than they are of Peters.

"Watch: PM Christopher Luxon apologises for 'parent-child mentality' comments"
" he was sorry they "did not properly acknowledge the challenges that many small business owners are facing".
"I know many small business owners are doing it tough right now," Christopher Luxon said on Monday at the post-cabinet media conference, where he also confirmed he'd spoken to his Minister of Foreign Affairs following "racist" remarks."
This is at least the THIRD time Luxon, has complained about NZ business.
"spoken to" SHOULD be SACKED
Laziest PM ever. Most incompetent PM ever.

@ClareBear My kids are roughly the same age as Lawrence Xu-Nan. They too came Aotearoa New Zealand when they were young. They're not in Parliament but if they were you can be damn sure that Peters or Jones wouldn't be suggesting that they go back to their own country if they asked a 'hard' question.
How do I know this? Because my kids are of Celtic and not Chinese extraction.
So however Peters, Jones and the rest of their cronies try to spin this it's racism. No ifs, buts or maybes.

National claim, moving people off benefits (which are not at a livable level) into employment (which do not pay livable wages and don't exist) will solve child poverty.
It's a LIE, they know it's a LIE

Today's edition of Bernard Hickey's always excellent The Kākā newsletter is now available for all. Lots of reaction to Luxon's recent speech to the Rotorua's Chamber of Commerce. Matthew Hooton, now editor of The Post, can't help himself from poking into the National party leadership issue. I mean, we all know Luxon is a numpty, but it is all laid out for everyone to see in this newsletter. Must be tough being a National MP these days knowing Luxon is so useless and widely derided as a Prime Minister.

Yup, although this story doesn't reveal anymore that Bradbury's own post in the Daily Blog did.
I would've been more interested if Stuff had stated the Free Speech Union has been approached for comment rather than Martyn Bradbury who has obviously said all he's legally able to say on the matter.

It’s becoming more difficult to understand that there’s still enough people in #Aotearoa #NewZealand to get the NZ First Nazi and Cookers Party over the 5% electoral threshold to enter #NZPol parliament.
Here’s hoping the idiots supporting this pack of scoundrels and rogues wake up to the reality of who they are voting for.

Just listened to the #RNZ political panel this week hosted by the far more neutral Suzie Ferguson with commentators Phil Goff and Liam Hehir.
I disagree with the attempts by National Party member Liam Hehir to defend Luxon’s inaction on Winston Peters which is, in my opinion, a huge mistake.
NZ already knows Luxon’s not a leader but had Luxon done what the majority of the country is demanding and that is sack Winston Peters as foreign minister he would have substantially improved National’s chances in the upcoming election and maybe more so had Winston forced a snap election.
I was also interested in Phil Goff’s response to a recent poll of only 400 people that suggests Chloe Swarbrick is at risk of losing Auckland Central to National and his idea that this ridiculously small poll will only give Chloe the opportunity to suggest Ak Central Labour voters give her their electoral vote while still giving Labour their party vote.

CW: Nzpol Daddy's Pants.
Luxon's wearing Daddy Pants.
Addressing a Rotorua Business Chamber’s Westpac Smarts Breakfast.
Amongst other Daddyish comments from the podium. (This is our Prime Minister, not our CEO, or something)
“Who cares what the Government will think or do?” When he was a CEO, he never wondered whether he could “get some grant money to do something.” No. He was “building a kick-arse business” like an “adult.” Businesses should “go out there and smack it and go create the road.” If you’re not “retooling and radically disrupting” your business, “you ain’t doing your job.” Big mistakes were made during Covid, when “the teenagers in charge [were] feeding the kids with sugar,” but we’ve taken that lesson, and the economy is “on an upswing.” And the line that should be carved into the base of whatever statue they eventually don’t build him: “The last person I wanted to ever talk to as a CEO was the Government.”

I suspect the #NZPol PM won’t be too busy to talk or take disciplinary action against NZ’s foreign minister Winston Peters, who has brought international shame to #Aotearoa #NewZealand and has put NZ’s $40B+ annual trade with China at risk by being a senile racist moron who’s well overstayed his time in parliament, after November when Luxon will be the fool formerly known as Prime Minister and Peters the cooker formerly known as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Here’s Luxon disagreeing with John Campbell on Morning Report today.

So, Luxon is saying he doesn't really care and it's not a priority. Otherwise a phone call, chat message, online meeting etc would have happened.
He wants to run the country like a business... If you pull crap like this in a business situation, you will have to face your manager or big boss immediately, no matter how busy everyone is... Or face the consequences straightaway.
"Luxon plans chat with Peters about 'racist' remarks 'at some point', says they've been busy"

I am a director in a medium sized NZ business that has been going for 20 odd years. We have weathered earthquakes and covid ourselves - we never took any government support during either.
I can tell you that many businesses I’ve spoken with have suffered directly because of the policies of this government over the last two and a half years.
Luxon was CEO of an already established business. A business the government owned a 51% percent share, gave an (unfair?) advantage to, and has bailed out at least twice in the last 25 years.
He was not a business leader, he was and is a parasite.

Also NZ Media, why you be like this:
"NZ First wants to pay people they deem worthy of being Real New Zealanders to have more babies, and ACT wants kids to be legally abused at school. These are very serious policy positions we should consider."
vs
"The Greens want to pause AI hyperscale datacentres for one year, while regulations are put in place. Why are these loony lefties cancelling The Future?"
-
Between NZ First's open racism, ACT's child abuse fantasies and National's out of touch corporate gibberish... the current news cycle's got me thinking it sure would be nice to have a Leader of the Opposition.
We should try and find one.
