CW: Two politicians are enough on my list
I only warm to a very few individuals in the realm of politics.
Mark Carney is top of my list and probably will even rank higher as things evolve.
Wayne Brown comes in a close second. The rest of my list could be filled with those that stand firm and see through the BS, lies and call out other politicians that have no idea how to do their job.
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown disappointed with National's 'nonsense' reason to reject bed tax https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/1147442/auckland-mayor-wayne-brown-disappointed-with-national-s-nonsense-reason-to-reject-bed-tax

Great personal account of Martyn Bomber Bradbury's recent unplanned health emergency and the people who helped him through it.

I'm not sure which is worst: the bigotry, the ignorance, the rudeness, the stupidity, the laziness, the dishonesty and, in some cases, the dementia. Yes I'm talking about the current NZ government.

On one of my last nights in Gaza before I left in 2015, a group of friends took me down to one of the shisha bars on the waterfront for a quiet farewell.
Sitting by the water listening to the soft lap of the waves on the shore, we drank tea, smoked shisha, and talked about work, life, and family. They chatted in Arabic as I tried to follow along, one occasionally breaking into English to catch me up when they could tell I’d lost the thread of the conversation.
It was easy to forget in the vibrance of it all that most of the people building their lives in Gaza were forced there as refugees. Their triumphs and joy, while living under brutal Israeli occupation and siege, are a testament to the strength and determination of the Palestinian people.
Gaza is a beautiful place and all who live there deserve peace. There is no peace without justice. Aotearoa New Zealand must uphold international law.

"Luxon defends prioritising rates cap over social media ban"
Think about this for a second, Luxon CLAIMS he needs to restrict under 18s from social media because it's harming them.
But he wants to control councils more urgently than to prevent the harm he claims is being caused.

CW: NZ cooker news - Act candidate resigns
In cooker news, George Ngatai has resigned from ACT after being selected as a candidate only last month.
It turns out old George was was originally told he wasn't fit for NZFirst "due to his connections to Destiny Church." So he began hawking himself around various parties including Act and Opportunity looking for a new political home.
Then somehow he was accepted into NZFirst before his infidelities were exposed and now he's out on his ear.
It's tough being a professional cooker.

For those failing to recognise the threat the #ACTParty poses to #NZPol democracy, #TeTiritioWaitangi and #Aotearoa #NewZealand sovereignty this brief overview of the #AtlasNetwork spells out precisely what is behind every action and policy the Act Party champion.

Have we reached the point where the #NZPol Act Party should be considered an enemy to the people of #Aotearoa #NewZealand and an existential threat to humanity and the planet?

David Seymour: "Well, I can't be responsible for your feelings Moana..."
Also David just seconds later: "...Would you want that? People being feeling fearful, feeling like they're being indoctrinated against their will?"
🙄 So are feelings valid or not?!? You forked-tongue sock puppet!

Joel McManus strikes a serious tone about the $34/yr rates saving, the rates limit will produce, at great cost in the future. Plus the cost of CoCs demands on councils that added to rates rises.
As usual TPU has its grubby little hands in making undemocratic moves on councils too.

Tax is supposedly going to be the defining issue of the election, so make sure you know what you're talking about. -
Labour on Monday: Better starts now.
National: We've got an idea so bad even the yahoos and numpties we're allied with hate it.
Labour on Tuesday: We'll vote for it. Better can wait.

Luxon says people under 18 are exposed to way too many fake AI videos full of lies produced by the National party as attack ads.

I assume National is trying to ban voting from overseas now?
