You would think if #NZMedia were accurately reporting about this #NZPol election and one of the political parties competing in this election was surging with numbers never before seen in previous elections that would be the leading story in most if not all our media outlets.

Good to see that despite barely any media coverage the #NZGreens are running a positive campaign with a huge ground game.

I can already predict the pundits being shocked with the results for #Greens post election and asking how did we not even see this happening. 🤣

According to constitutional conventions there can only be one #NZPol Prime Minister due to the fact that the Prime Minister serves as the principal advisor to the Sovereign.

Because the Governor-General acts strictly on the advice of the Prime Minister, having two competing or distinct voices holding that sole legal authority would trigger a constitutional crisis if they ever disagreed on vital state matters (such as dissolving Parliament or advising an election).

If #NZGreens do receive more votes than #NZLabour then they will be in a position to select the PM and, personally, I think that person will be Chloe Swarbrick.

However I do look forward to the Green's having this decision to make - perhaps they'll put it to a party vote? 💚

In my humble pundit opinion I reckon #NZGreens constant rise in popularity (according to #NZPol polls) will be good for Labour and ultimately the country.

Here’s why; The wealthy and sorted plus many centre right voters have an irrational fear of the Greens being in power.

Truth be told it’s simply a fear of having to pay their fair share of taxes however with the Greens looking more likely to be given a strong mandate to introduce wealth tax and implement the many progressive policies and reforms they are running on we’re fast approaching a time where a strong Labour majority in the next coalition government will be seen as the only viable option to prevent a wealth tax etc being implemented.

For that reason many former National, Act and sensible NZ First voters will decide to give their party vote to Labour, as they did in 2020, to prevent Green Party having too much power.

I also believe Opportunity will lose more support as election draws closer and won’t reach the 5% threshold.

This is nothing but speculative punditry but I sense the best way to change the government is to party vote Green.

Also, when National attempts to mislead #NZPol voters by claiming every possible coalition partner in a Labour led government’s tax policy will be actioned including some fantasy taxes that don’t even appear to exist what they certainly don’t want you to know is; should the proposed #NZGreens wealth tax policy be passed into law 96% of NZers will actually pay lower taxes and have far more public services funded lowering the cost of living.

For those unaware of #Greens wealth tax policy, it’s a tax of 2.5% on assets valued above $10 million excluding the family home.

If enough of us party vote Green we will finally be able to begin reversing the extreme damage neoliberalism has done to our people and country.

#NZPol PSA: For all those freaking out about #NZLabour dropping slightly in recent polls - the good news is Labour are losing the majority of their support to #NZGreens with some to Opportunity.

It's still very early days, Chippy and Labour are, so far, appearing a lot more positive and confident than they did this time last election and most importantly not losing any support to National and the coalition of corruption. 💚 ❤️ ♥️

Yes the entire RW campaign is based on fear and maintaining a failed status quo that favours the elite and punishes the majority.

The Greens and other LW parties campaigning on a vision and policies of hope is what the majority of NZers are asking for.

#NZGreens are campaigning for the upcoming election on introducing a wealth tax of 2.5 percent on assets above $10 million (excluding family homes).

With a recent #NZPol poll on party’s tax policies 64 percent of respondents say they support the #Greens #WealthTax policy.

If NZers actually vote on introducing a wealth tax that will not only help fund health, education, infrastructure and the many other government programs that are struggling with underfunding but also provide tax relief for 96% of NZ taxpayers then might #Aotearoa #NewZealand see a majority #NZGreens govt be elected in 2026?

When you consider (since 2023) Stats NZ data shows the wealthiest 20% NZers saw their median net worth increase by 19%, while New Zealand's top 150 richest individuals and family dynasties grew their combined assets by 26.35% (from $102.1 billion to $129 billion) in the last financial year, the question is:

if we had a fair #NZPol tax system then the country would have a substantial increase in state income and funding for health, education, housing, infrastructure etc yet somehow we are constantly being told by the coalition of corruption that we can no longer afford to fund those public services.

Might I state the obvious and suggest the problem is a direct result of a failed tax system that means workers such as teachers and nurses are paying a higher rate of tax than the filthy rich.

Vote for a fairer tax system that benefits the country and all NZers.

Was an interesting experience door knocking for the #NZGreens in one of the more affluent parts of Tāmaki Makaurau yesterday. I was expecting to be greeted with a lot of not interested and potentially unpleasant responses and there were certainly some but I was pleasantly surprised by the affection many, particularly older, people showed towards the Green Party.

One old guy told me he didn't have anything against the Greens but had never voted any party other than National and although he disagreed with many of the Green's policies thought they were probably the only party that honestly wanted to improve things and help address many issues NZ is facing.

I told him I appreciated his comments and said the way I look at it, particularly when I have benefited from growing up in a more egalitarian NZ, that sometimes you need to think about the children born into a very different world today and vote in their interests. He smiled and said, I don't disagree, perhaps that's something I should think about.

Brilliant policy announcement from #NZGreens regarding state owned supermarkets #KiwiMart to supply fresh food etc at a lower margin than the current supermarket duopoly profiteering from NZers and increasing poverty in our communities.

One of the big pluses for this policy is it will provide a market for local farmers, growers and food suppliers that are currently been cut out of the market by the duopoly importing cheap foreign grown food to increase supermarket profit margins.

I see a lot of comments accusing the Green's of stealing #Mamdani policy but hey if you're gonna steal policy off another politician Mamdani is probably a good place to start.

On one of my last nights in Gaza before I left in 2015, a group of friends took me down to one of the shisha bars on the waterfront for a quiet farewell.

Sitting by the water listening to the soft lap of the waves on the shore, we drank tea, smoked shisha, and talked about work, life, and family. They chatted in Arabic as I tried to follow along, one occasionally breaking into English to catch me up when they could tell I’d lost the thread of the conversation.

It was easy to forget in the vibrance of it all that most of the people building their lives in Gaza were forced there as refugees. Their triumphs and joy, while living under brutal Israeli occupation and siege, are a testament to the strength and determination of the Palestinian people.

Gaza is a beautiful place and all who live there deserve peace. There is no peace without justice. Aotearoa New Zealand must uphold international law.

I think I just watched the worst #NZQ&A interview I have ever seen.

Tova O’Brien attempts to trip up #NZGreens co-leader Chloe Swarbrick on the need for a moratorium on #Ai centers plus fails spectacularly to defend the wealthy from paying taxes.

The comments also make for interesting reading with many commentators supporting the Greens for the first time.
