@HardBeingGreen Gosh this is getting tiring. Yet again #AlboPM is showing his complete surrender to the baseless calls from the #RWNJs to cut govt spending. In doing so, the #Labor govt is showing:

1) a complete misunderstanding of the economic landscape — which I am sure #Chalmers is well aware of but can’t/won’t front shirt his boss about,

2) that he is prioritising his focus on the useless polls and gains #PHON has reportedly secured, mounting the barricades in defence of his office rather of the people he serves — showing he is more concerned to appease the #Rentiers and #Grifters than provide the services and support we elected him to provide.

3) how big a hipocryte he is by his chameleon act. The left faction of the Party is utterly gutted by his betrayal.

Once again, Chris Hipkins has put his foot in his mouth and declared that Labour won't entertain his coalition partners' plans for wealth or other taxes.

In fact he's "put his job on the line" guaranteeing no new taxes, beyond Labour's pissy little CGT which will only raise peanuts.

"While the Greens, Te Pāti Māori and Opportunity had plans for major tax reforms, "there isn't a public appetite for tax reform that is that radical," Hipkins said."

Sorry, what? In all the surveys I've seen, there's an overwhelming public desire to tax the super-rich. After living with three years of right wing fuckery, the electorate is in the mood for change. Not a Chippier version of National-lite.

Hipkins' centrism is on full display if he sees tax equity as being in any way "radical". I can understand his desire to appear "decisive" but he keeps getting pushed into corners where he says silly things like this. Decisively.

His position will make any coalition negotiations difficult, to say the least. While he won't see himself that way, he is currently Labour's biggest liability.

Hipkins is no fool, but sometimes he sure acts like one.

It's time to vote Green to cut out the wishy-washy middlemen and start fixing our country.
