It's possible to have a presence and communicate on those platforms without promoting them in your own communication. And it's important to have one (1) free open channel in you social media mix, so that you don't force people to use the manipulative data harvesting media. (The #plus1 principle). #greenparty

when Labour & Tory gov'ts proposed or implemented anything that resembles media regulation, Greens & their supporters called it out as a suppression of free speech.

but when Polanski himself proposes it? especially when you dig into details (thetimes.com/article/43a6fbdc-) which are utterly unworkable and appalling? complete silence from them.

this is the state of GPEW: party of nutjobs, tankies & pseudo-antiracists.

  7. My first reaction when told “a journalist wants to interview you”, was “hell no”. I spent a lot of time, and some really formative years, being trained to avoid journalists. In the military you’re told to keep your head down and remain in the shadows. Humility was one of the tenants we were to live by.

But I’m not here for me. This interview was a chance to speak about what I’m here for, the kaupapa.

I’m here for those of us working hard who still can’t make ends meet. I’m here to help create a system that actually allows people to flourish.

I’m here for the small businesses going into liquidation because of climbing costs and reduced spending while offshore tech companies make billions of dollars a year and pay almost no tax.

I’m here for the many of us who can’t cover an unexpected bill while banks and supermarkets continue to make record profits.

I’m here for teachers, nurses, firefighters, soldiers and others who pay $22 in tax per $100 while the wealthiest among us pay the equivalent of $9.

I’m here for an education system where we learn about the history of Aotearoa, so we can, together, celebrate the greatness that we’ve achieved and work hard to put right the wrongs.

I’m here for a truely independent foreign policy, based on political courage and a moral standing on what’s right and just. One that works to end oppression in Palestine, West Papua, Ukraine, and so many other places across the globe. One where we call a genocide a genocide. Where action speaks louder than words.

I’m here to move us away from an economic paradigm in which the vast majority are 3 bad months away from being homeless while a tiny few are 3 good months away from making another million bucks.

We are not broken. The system is and we need to change it. That’s why I’m here.
