  1. It's certainly true that the initial #Covid19 vaccine roll-out was phenomenally successful.

But I find it troubling that the government has largely given up on covid vaccines in more recent years.

The vaccines have undoubtedly saved lives, but they don't have a brilliant duration of immunity. Regular boosters are essential to maintain protection.

And regular boosters are no longer available on the NHS for the vast majority of us.

"The UK Covid Inquiry has laid bare the avoidable horror of the second Covid wave"

From Chris Pagel, who's consistently been one of the most informative writers about covid science.

  6. "Largely listen to the health and medical advice as to what was likely to happen," said Rishi Sunak at today's ##CovidInquiry

    We remember, Mr Sunak

  13. The proven liar #Johnson contemptuously wrote in his odious column for the Daily Mail about the #covidinquiry, an inquiry he set up:

“More than three years after the end of the pandemic, they are still wrangling about what went wrong.”

    no regret
    no apology
    no contrition
    nothing

What a shit of a man

  14. UK #COVIDInquiry finds that implementing lockdown one week earlier could have prevented 23,000 deaths in the first wave of the pandemic in England alone. #ToryCovidDisaster bbc.com/audio/play/w1730683vq5

  15. I suppose the Beeb have been stung by recent accusations of bias, so rather than just presenting the views of actual scientists saying that #Covid19 killed lots of people, they need to also have a fucking idiot conspiracy theorist to say that covid was fine and it was just the lockdowns that killed all those hundreds of thousands of people, just for "balance".

  16. ‘Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, decision-making was "chaotic" and affected by “political machinations”’

It’s a quote from the Covid Inquiry, but could be applied to anything to do with NI government.

  17. Look in Matt’s defence he just likes killing people - fun fact Matt as well being paid to have sex with his assistant in his office, is also Britain’s biggest serial killer. Oh and we were also paying the assistants wages

  18. "It took a whole lot of effort to change the plan [herd immunity] when the penny really dropped with me in the middle of February," said #Hancock at today's ##CovidInquiry

"And we decided in the middle of Feb we needed to make a national approach to covid guidance."

But he was met with the QC responding
    with images from it.

Here was the advice about facemasks

  19. #Hancock is talking about how he and Helen Whately discovered Operation Pegasus in Feb 2020 and #HerdImmunity at the ##CovidInquiry

Of course, he knew better than anyone else 🙄

"We decided to make a national recommendation to care homes"

11 April 2020: A leaked letter from the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (Adass) to the Department of Health and Social Care notes the handling of PPE for care workers has been “shambolic”, with delivery of equipment “paltry” and “haphazard

  20. #Hancock is asked by the QC at the #CovidInquiry "Did you receive the data"
    [mortality data in care homes]
"You can see by the conversations we* are having around it there are discussions, and by May, the quality of data was more accurate."

*he is referring to Helen Whately and himself here

  21. A video of #Hancock during a #Covid press briefing in 2020 ---- let us see what he NOW says he said at the #CovidInquiry today

'The main thing we could do at the beginning, before we understood it slightly better, was to reduce the amount of Covid. If you don’t get Covid, you don’t get #LongCovid.'

  23. #CovidInquiry – a damning report

#FatalStrategicFlaws” in #pandemic planning led to thousands of #AvoidableDeaths, says inquiry lead #BaronessHallett

'Although #BorisJohnson promised a “world-beating system”, only half of close contacts were reached through #TestAndTrace in badly affected areas. The use of private companies such as #Serco added to the complications, while, unfathomably, local #NHS expertise was overlooked.'
