  1. @theblufnews it's ridiculous. I have no problem with verification for finance but Biometrics being stored is so dangerous.

This nextgen facial scanning is either owned or affiliated with Equifax which is the security equivalent of storing your water in a colander

  6. I was unaware of this and when asking my new bank to verify destruction of my biometrics under the APP1988, they are claiming retention under the AML for 7 years after the closure of the morgage.

Grotesque nany state we live in. So gross. Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park comes to mind - just because they can collect this stuff, doesn't mean they should. especially when it could or will eventually leak. I cant change my face

  7. Fun trap for people apply/refinancing their mortgage. The NextGen biometric that banks are requesting to for verification is being claimed as an exception to the Privacy Act 1988.

It doesn't have to be de identified or destroyed after verification for Tranche1 entities under the AntiMoney Laundering / CTF act.

  9. Dating apps are increasingly adopting face recognition — framed as a safety feature against fake profiles. Worth noting: it also means biometric data flowing through platforms with variable security postures, retention policies, and third-party integrations. The threat surface isn't just the match — it's the infrastructure behind the swipe. #infosec #biometrics #privacy

  10. Linkedln scans facial geometry via Persona under the guise of verification. Yet when biometric data feeds complex vendor chains linked to Palantir's Ontology, commercial consent becomes a
dual-use pipeline. Passing biometric data down
    hidden chains violates contract transparency.
    Corporations, not algorithms, hold liability.

  11. ICS Threats Decline, But Biometrics Sector Remains Vulnerable

The threat landscape for industrial control systems (ICS) is showing a welcome decline, with only 19.15% of ICS computers encountering blocked malicious objects in Q2 2026 - the lowest level since 2022. However, amidst this positive trend, one sector remains alarmingly vulnerable: biometrics.

  12. EU: Don’t send our data to the US!

"Under a new agreement, the EU would open up European police databases to the US, handing over huge amounts of sensitive personal data, including fingerprints and facial images, on millions of Europeans, in exchange for keeping visa-free travel."

  13. Looking at support.google.com/pixelphone/ and androidcentral.com/how-does-an, I'm curious what y'all think about modern #Android devices' "Trusted Execution Environment" storing #fingerprints (for authentication, unlocking, etc.) in, allegedly, a TPM-backed secure enclave that the OS doesn't have access to (really?)… For Pixel phones, Google claims biometrics never leave the TEE enclave, never touch servers, etc.

I wouldn't use it to travel… but local? I saw some geek friends using it.

I just finished reading this. An interesting look into poor academic citation practices (leading to citogenesis xkcd.com/978/), historical accuracy, and biometrics.
