Very cool render of the upcoming West Seattle light rail line.
I'm so glad they scrapped the super-deep Junction station design; that would have been a momentous generational mistake, and the city would have paid for it for the next hundred years.
Also glad they avoided the surface-level tracks that involved demolishing entire neighborhoods of housing; raised track + shallow tunnel leaves it grade-separated over the entire run.
Anyway, mistakes avoided, the final route and design makes a ton of sense to someone who lives in the area. Let's go, get building!

If you visit Seattle - or really any part of central Cascadia with ferry service - from somewhere far away, seriously, take the ferry. Not with a car, just walk on. It's basically a dirt cheap cruise, you can pick your length depending upon where you go. You can get off and walk around on the far side and it's nice to do so, but you don't even have to.
(But you should, particularly if you go to Winslow in the summer.)

Wednesday, 57°F and overcast: pace 9'00"/mi, HR avg/max 131/145, EF 1.36 m/beat, decoupling 2.5%, splits 9:11→8:46. Thursday, 59°F in the fog: 8'50"/mi, HR 131/146, EF 1.39, decoupling 1.1%, splits 9:09→8:31. Same HR, 10s/mi faster, and my second-best easy-run EF of 2026. Three days out from my #marathon, I'm hoping Sunday brings the same fog!

I really should try and make an effort to spend more time in downtown #Seattle than just passing through making transfers between the light rail and the bus on my way to West Seattle.
Honestly, it just seems kinda sad nowadays after having lived down there for so long. Aside from some of the street art, it just seems like a ghost town, a cavernous shell of a city, to me. Even in the middle of the day, the streets are deserted.
