Mobile’s Civil Rights Story

Mobile, Alabama, has preserved a civil-rights history often overshadowed by Birmingham and Montgomery. Local activists such as John LeFlore challenged segregation in buses, schools, voting, and public life, while churches and the longshoremen’s union provided organizing space. Today the city’s museums, heritage trail, historic sites, and emerging Civil Rights and Cultural Heritage District connect that struggle to the places where it unfolded. #civilrights

On July 25, 1914, the #Austria-n Council of Ministers suspended the most important civil rights enshrined in the constitution: personal liberty, the inviolability of the home, the rights of association and assembly, the privacy of correspondence, press freedom, etc.
