Almost done with the enclosure for the web radio player, the ring's supports don't come off easily, and the holes for the LED light pipes are too small. Happy with the fit of both halves and how they align with the connectors. The ring will be printed in two colors with the logos in white, so I couldn't print them on the enclosure's surface which contacts the bed (I don't have a multi-material printer). Also, I added support for Home Assistant via ESPHome in the latest firmware!
I have a decent sized #DIY project on the horizon: garage shelves.
10x 6’x2’ shelves that will mount on the inner perimeter of my garage near the ceiling. Each shelf has 2 brackets, each with 4 bolts. With leveling & ladder resets, it’s a ton of work.
My plan is to spend the time up front by making a jig with #3dPrinting that holds each bracket while I screw it to the stud. The jig will fit over the top plate and centre the bracket on the stud. This should mean no fiddling to level.

Claude Code (Opus 5.5) has gotten quite good at modeling with OpenSCAD. Here's a cat it one-shot modeled for me with a very basic prompt to model a cat as well as a flower press it modeled for me.
In the flower press case I provided it a first example module of what I wanted the code to look like as well as a spec of how I wanted it to work. This is the result of some back and forth iteration. Nevertheless, extremely impressive and much quicker than I could have done it on my own.
(It's striking how different this feels from just earlier this year, when I struggled to get it to do even basic things with basic shapes, like "put a hole in the back of this cube.")
Heading down to #Supercon! Seems I'm still wrestling with my burnout-exacerbated events-panic-lockup demons, but decided to take it slow and ride the last-minute inspiration wave.
The new thing is that I'm working toward custom "wax" seals/signets to use with cast-off PLA from #3DPrinting!
Lots of potential here: more bolo ties (as seen on last #DayGlowShow), light-up things, and of course, correspondence :D

Bambu has a sale on filaments going on (in the US at least). Just restocked a bunch of colors and picked up a few new ones to play with. I plan on using up the Bambu PLA Matte colors I have ASAP. I don’t really care for the look of the matte prints and they seem to fail more often.
This time around I’m finally leaning more into PETG. I’ve had pretty good luck printing both PLA and PETG after adding an enclosure to my printer and putting all my spools in dry containers.
Ooh, look! I updated a thing yet again.
Added a few variarions on a flared base. Helpful for those who want a more stable handle when set down yet do not want to bother with the separate stand.

I setup a Manyfold account on 3dprint.social and put up the design for my coat hook. I'm hitting various snags with Fediverse inter-operation, but as an open source, self-hostable model repository, Manyfold looks pretty good.
I've also now put oodles of this same hook around my house and they're doing well so far holding up jackets with painter's tape.
I've also had to reckon with just how many coats my family actually has ...

Goop was definitely a problem, but apparently I also bent a pin trying to force it. That was fun to fix.
Then I’m looking at the main nozzle and it seems like the thermistor wire is hitting the filament cutting lever, so things are coming back apart. Fan off, nozzle out. I need room to move the cables around.
The toolhead cover is coming on when the printer boots up which I assume is a good sign. I can’t get the printer to spin the fan while the cover is apart because it wants a circuit complete that I just can’t make happen. Hopefully this is fixed.
I’ve now put more work into this printer than the Core One, even though it wasn’t really Bambu’s fault.

ASA was a bit surprising - far easier to print that I'd been led to believe.
Also soldered the first LED. My hands are shaky af (always have been) so was a bit of a challenge, but I think it's serviceable. Hoping the LED will tolerate being slightly toasted now...

Researchers at Karabük University in Türkiye tested whether mixing plain PLA with carbon fibre reinforced PLA improves strength.
