Sandy Mitchell actually has a quite a nice way of bringing in-universe humour, where you normally at best chuckle at the ridiculousness of the universe as a whole. He also constructed a really believable antihero/reluctant here in the titular Commissar Ciaphas Cain, who really just wants a peaceful and safe desk job somewhere, and somehow regularly finds himself saving the situation.

I'm now through the Ciaphas Cain series of WH40k novels, and can warmly recommend the whole lot of them.
Just one word of warning, I don't think they're really good as an introduction to the series, as to understand a lot of the things happening, it's advantageous to already have an understanding of the Warhammer universe. The books don't do much infodumping at all.

Would Tau be more interesting if they we rewritten? Maybe they are run by eugenicists who obsess over controlling individual atoms their leaders have telekinetic powers to make the molecules do whatever they want and their armies are led by mad scientists who want to run experiments on imperial guard armies #wh40k

I've met a group of #wh40k narrative players recently. What an epiphany!
Turns out the memories i had with my friends when I was a teenager are just memories and no, an adult isn't able to enjoy someyhing without overthinking it. -
The new Dawn of War 4 RTS game is looking pretty damn good based off of those two "Battle Report" gameplay videos they've showcased where the developers are playing against each other and commenting along the way.
They've got one video with Necrons fighting the Adeptus Mechanicus, and another video where the Space Marines are fighting the Orks.

[P] It's an interesting thought exercise to consider the enshittification of the t'au. Since around 2020 and the 4th Codex, Games Workshop has been pushing hard to make them cartoonishly evil. It's a stark difference versus early t'au, where concepts so contrary to their existence—like the malk'la—just didn't exist. Current t'au lore contradicts itself constantly as an affect of rushing to hotfix in out-of-place evil.
