  1. Following a near lethal car accident yesterday involving family, at a persistent accident blackspot on the A5:

I wonder if any navigation apps can also warn the driver when they're approaching a high risk spot, especially if still recent?

I'd find that valuable, to prompt me to take extra care.

It might save some lives, and generate feedback for needed improvements.

Edit: if not apps; make the car itself tell you somehow it's a bit dodgy!

  2. People often times tell me that I'm creative. Mostly I just shrug it off as "everyone could do this". But I really like this design for a logo for "paragliding safety chat".

  4. Food safety concern: meats packaged in black styrofoam at Safeway

I have noticed small particles of black plastic stuck to steak and organic chicken purchased from Safeway which come from the black styrofoam backing it is packaged in. They don't rinse off with water; I've had to pick them off with the tip of a knife.
I no longer buy fresh meat from Safeway, though I did not notice any bits of plastic on items using the white styrofoam backing.

  8. Interesting. We know that designing accessible spaces benefits everyone, but I never considered that women's experience with spaces can be very different to men's, from a safety standpoint: databuild.co.za/designing-for-

  10. New Chemical Safety Board Video.

These always give me such emotional whiplash as an engineer in a safety field.

These make me sick to my stomach or of empathy for the blood that was spilt to need the video, followed professional interest in how to apply the learnings.

2 people died, asphyxiated by nitrogen. 4 workers responding also died, and additional people were injured.
