8 Amazon Supplies We Used for Upcycling Mid-Century Modern Thrift-Store Furniture

Upcycling thrift-store furniture sounds like a hobby for people with a garage, a truck, and unlimited patience. It isn’t. My friend does this most weekends, and he’s not handy in any traditional sense. He just knows which eight things to buy and in what order to use them. I’m the one who can barely assemble flat-pack shelving, and even I could follow along once he laid it out.

My friend has a rule he swears by, and I’m going to steal his name for it here: the Two-Hour Rule. Before buying anything, he spends two minutes checking the piece for three things. Structural soundness (do the joints wobble, are the legs solid), veneer condition (is it lifting, bubbling, or missing in chunks), and hardware availability (can he replace what’s broken without ordering a custom part from overseas).

If a piece fails on structure, he walks away, no matter how good the finish looks. Structural problems eat hours you don’t get back. Three Mistakes That Cost Us Time

First mistake: skipping the Reveal Test and sanding straight through a veneer on a side table that couldn’t be repaired afterward. Second mistake: applying stain over wood that still had old wax residue trapped in the grain, which caused blotching that took an extra round of stripping to fix. Comme je le disais récemment mon prochain sympo se passe près de la mer et le thème est "l'empreinte du vent". J'adore fabriquer des voiliers. Je voulais en faire un avec un spi déployé sous l'emprise du vent.

C'est aussi un chandelier de sorte que même une brise légère nous rappelle aussi son empreinte.

Ich hatte eigentlich vor, mit der Flex zu arbeiten. An einem kleinen Stück habe ich das getestet. Eine riesige Sauerei war das. Und heute habe ich mit einem Arbeitskollegen darüber gesprochen, der mir eine japanische Säge empfohlen hat. Das musste ich natürlich sofort ausprobieren. Und ich bin total glücklich über das Ergebnis.

Un coffret ! Parce que j'ai plein de pentures. C'est mon 5eme et 3 d'entre eux, je les ai adoptés avant de les mettre à vendre 😆

Dans 10 jours c'est mon symposium d'art. Je suis excitée comme une puce. Je me sens comme un chanteur qui va donner une performance mais vous ne voulez surtout pas que je chante !

C'est dur pour moi faire un coffret. Il faut que ce soit parfait, pile sua coche.

Das ist eines meiner #Upcycling Projekte. Für diese Skulptur habe ich monatelang #Buntstifte bei Freunden, Kollegen, Nachbarn gesammelt. Und ich habe nach einer Anfrage bei #pelikan einen ganzen Karton mit Stiften zugeschickt bekommen. Aber das Schönste war die Zusammenarbeit mit den Kindern einer Grundschule, die alle für mich gesammelt haben.

Ostatnio oglądamy sobie różne stare filmy, a jako że wiosna idzie a nastroje jakoś niebyt wiosenne, to celujemy głównie w komedie, albo obyczajówki z pozytywnym wydźwiękiem. No i tak to wczoraj, po kilku/nastu latach, obejrzeliśmy ponownie film "Bazyl. Człowiek z kulą w głowie".

Mimo tylu lat, nadal wspaniały :)

W recenzjach narzekają, że przerost formy nad treścią, że za dużo scenografii, a za mało fabuły. To chyba piszą wilcy, nie ludzie. Ten nadmiar wszystkiego jest przecież cudowny, wszystkie te upcyclingowe wymysły, duperele, abstrakcyjne wynalazki i pomysły to przecież jest właśnie to, po co się ogląda ten film - żeby nacieszyć oko, a przy okazji porechotać z Dominique'a Pinon'a machającego jęzorem, gdy usiłuje zwabić psa :) a nie po to, żeby po seansie formułować krytyczne uwagi dotyczące rażącej płytkości semantycznej komunikatu oraz strukturalnych deficytów scenariusza ;)

No i nie mogłem się powstrzymać od spreparowania obrazka na kanwie jednej ze scen (ech ta francuska fonetyka ;) )
