In fünf Stunden die Teilnehmenden anhand originaler Gerichtsakten der nationalsozialistischen Sondergerichte vermeintliche "Kriminalfälle" aus dem Raum Karlsruhe. Dabei wird deutlich, dass die Beschuldigten und Angeklagten häufig nicht kriminell im heutigen Sinne waren. Stattdessen rücken die Justiz und ihre Funktion im NS-Staat in den Mittelpunkt.

Take a leap into the world of Jewelry in this 6 week beginner program.
Students will work with our instructor Rebecca on a variety of beginner friendly projects from pendants to bracelets and even a small box!
This is a course designed to lead you through some fundamental skills to enhance your jewelry practice and begin creating pieces independently. Students will be given some freedom to add their own design elements and ideas to their class pieces.
The class will cover: piercing, sawing, drilling, texturing, riveting, soldering, bezel setting, polishing, hollow construction and basic patina.

Westbrook, ME 04092, USA"Let's channel the rebellious 60's and 70's by making a protest patch using groovy fabric scraps. Learn two different machine applique techniques. We'll use reverse applique to create a layer fabric image. Text will be added using double sided interfacing and friction pens. The patch makes a perfect pocket or patch for a mended pair of jeans. We'll have interfacing, pens and a heaping basket of fabric scraps but feel free to contribute your own scraps. This is a great scrap busting project and the more scraps the merrier.
Prerequisites: Some machine sewing experience is helpful, such as Sewing Machine Basics with Jo.
Class date: Sunday, May 31st, 10:30am - 12:30pm

22ste editie van de Anarchistische Boekenbeurs Gent
De wereld van autoriteit toont zijn lelijkste gelaat. Het is een tijd van de botste machtspolitiek, ongebreidelde plundering van de aarde, onderwerping van het leven aan technologie, digitalisering en economische efficiëntie. We worden geconfronteerd met de ultieme uiting van de brutaliteit van de staat: algemene militarisering en oorlog.
In plaats van ons uit angst of verslagenheid terug te plooien of te kiezen voor het minste kwaad, kiezen we voluit voor onze anarchistische ideeën en antiautoritaire ethiek. Geen knieval dus voor politiek en compromissen maar een zoektocht naar onze mogelijkheden voor autonome strijd met onze drang naar vrijheid als kompas.
In een wereld waarin staatsgeweld en autoritarisme welig tieren, is ons feest van analoog verzet en solidariteit meer dan ooit een noodzaak.
Op de anarchistische boekenbeurs vind je een ruim en divers aanbod aan boeken, publicaties, t-shirts, posters en stickers. Je kan er snuisteren tussen oude romans, revolutionaire klassiekers en nieuwe uitgaven van verschillende distro’s. Van filosofische werken tot strijdvoorstellen.
De boekenbeurs is meer dan alleen een plaats om je boekenverzamelzucht bot te vieren. Het is een plaats van uitwisseling en discussie, een plaats waar ideeën, individuen en collectieven elkaar kunnen ontmoeten en vinden in affiniteit.
Zo wordt de boekenbeurs een plaats waar oproepen tot sociale strijd, via discussie en informele ontmoetingen nieuwe inspiratie, zuurstof en dynamiek krijgen.

The world of authority is showing its ugliest face. It is a time of the crudest of power politics, unbridled plundering of the earth, the subjugation of life to technology, digitalisation and economic efficiency. We are confronted with the ultimate expression of state brutality: universal militarisation and war.
Instead of folding back out of fear or defeat, or choosing the lesser evil, we fully embrace our anarchist ideas and anti-authoritarian ethics. No kneeling before politics and compromise, but a search for our possibilities for autonomous struggle, with the desire for freedom as our compass. In a world where state violence and authoritarianism run rampant, our gathering of analogue resistance and solidarity is more necessary than ever.
At the Anarchist Book Fair you will discover a wide and diverse range of books, publications, t-shirts, posters and stickers. Rummage in old novels, revolutionary classics and new editions from various distros. From philosophical works to proposals for struggle.
The book fair is more than just a place to indulge your book-collecting urge. It is a place of exchange and discussion, a place where ideas, individuals and collectives can meet and find each other in affinity. This way the Book Fair becomes a space where calls for struggle, through discussion and informal encounters, find new inspiration and momentum.

This is a great class to learn the basic setup of a forge, with Alex's basic portable propane forge setup and simple hammer, tongs and anvil.
Alex is a full time bladesmith and previous competitor on History Channel's 'Forged in Fire'
Students must wear all natural fiber clothing and closed toe leather shoes for this class.

Why I don’t like recording events
I was asked earlier why I don’t like recording events and realised I’d never actually written it down. There are a few reasons I feel increasingly strongly about this:
- We have started to record academic events by default and I think that is fundamentally problematic in principle
- There’s an assumption that the ease with which we can record online events means we should record them and I just don’t get why that is
- There’s a fundamental value in the academic event as something that brings people together synchronously which recording undercuts
- The biggest problem with online events is passive engagement and (automatic) recording of them fits into that structure
- The quality of engagement should be more important than the quantity in most cases. What matters is how richly a core audience engages and there are trade offs which we need to recognise.
- Recording undermines the space for intellectual improvisation and risk taking
- The evidence I’ve seen (as someone who ran a lot of academic social media for a long time) is that engagement rates with event recording is very slow.
- My hunch is that the request for a recording often tracks a fear of missing out as much as it does a deliberate intention to engage with the recording
I’m not saying never record events. Clearly this serves a purpose in some cases. But we should only record events when we are clear about the rationale for doing so.
