Wie demotivierend so Software Development ist wenn alle reviewer von MRs keinen Bock haben und dann sich an petitessen hochziehen.
Klar kann ich den 2 Zeiler der 20 Minuten in der CI Pipeline spart in einen zweiten CI MR packen. Wenn das reviewen und Mergen von sowas aber ne Woche dauert dann droppe ich das stumpf weil der Aufwand das zu diskutieren in keiner relation steht. Anderer Menschen Pain Points muss ich ja nicht ersetzen durch Pain Points für mich - Its a gift - take it or leave it.
Und ich bin überhaupt kein Software-Developer. Ich kann das - ich will das aber nicht. Ich denke ich bin ein guter Admin, ich bin ein guter DevOps Mensch, ich bin ein guter Network Architect. Und im zweifelsfalle kann ich auch Rechner mit einem Lötkolben reparieren. Bei reiner Softwareentwicklung kriege ich Pickel - vor allem wie es häufig gelebt wird.

Adventures in hiring....
I managed to get an interview by reaching out to someone I know. Sadly the Engineering Manager who interviewed me was flabbergasted that I write code by hand. Apparently they have doubled their code output by a factor of 2.5 since last year, and also have 20k AI written tests. Haven't heard back but I don't think the outcome will be positive. I may have used terms like ethics, cognitive debt, intent debt and cognitive surrender.
So, if anyone is still hiring software engineers who write code by hand, I can develop architect, design and code backend and infrastructure. My tools of choice are TDD, DDD, modular monoliths, Golang, Python, Typescript, PHP, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, Ports and Adapters, and distributed systems (where warranted). My secret powers are thinking, focusing on outcomes over outputs, and mentoring.
I am happy to work in small or large environments. I believe I can be a force multiplier in smaller, less experienced teams, but happy to be a cog in a larger one.
Preference: Remote in North America, or hybrid in Vancouver, BC.

If your company is still sending Excel spreadsheets via email, you would do good to hire me. If the data in your database grew historically into an inconsistent mess after various acquisitions and mergers, you would do good to hire me.
I can do this for you:
- write APIs with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy (mid level)
- write SQL for analyzing or warehousing data (senior level)
- do infrastructure work like Proxmox, Terraform, etc. (mid level)I'd be a perfect fit for you if your employer uses Plausible or Matomo.
I'm not fixed on the SQL/warehousing part. I'm tired of Google Analytics and the privacy violations (people farming) associated with it and my specialization, so I'd like to transition into one of the other mentioned specializations (backend webdev or infrastructure).
I'm in Germany and prefer 100% remote (not necessarily in Germany).
