    🔐 Beveiliging & privacy
    📷 Fotografie & beeldbewerking
    🤖 AI & open source
    🔧 Repaircafés & reparatie
🖥️ Oude hardware nieuw leven geven
⚙️ Arduino, Raspberry Pi & open hardware
    💻 Programmeren
    🌐 Servers, netwerken & self-hosting
    ♻️ Duurzaamheid & digitale inclusie
    🏢 Open source binnen bedrijven
    🚀 Innovatieve projecten

    mikecoats.com/testing-oops-all

Do the level-shifters work in both directions? Can you measure the current draw? How far can you push the Oops! All Servos!, microcontroller and servos? Development sponsored by JLCPCB.

We're excited to announce our latest #LLM and #AI assisted project, #LampyMcLamperson fully #openhardware for being able to talk face to face. Talk Sunday night on the 18th floor of the Paris Hotel

  8. I'm looking to buy at least 10 boards at a time to make the shipping cost per board reasonable.

I understand that the supply isn't keeping up with demand, and I'm willing to pay over MSRP as a result of that.

It's not like I'm trying to hoard them for personal use or just re-sell them at a profit. I'm an open source hardware manufacturer just trying to get #OpenHardware into the hands of the people who want it.

Even though these boards were sponsored by JLCPCB, I still wanted to save some money, so I opted to handle the through-hole components myself. I also deliberately ordered a few unpopulated PCBs to use as assembly jigs.

  18. "It’s been a longtime feature of the annual Defcon hacker conference that attendees come away not only with knowledge of new software vulnerabilities and hacking techniques but also an elaborately designed conference badge—often electronic masterpieces embedded with intricate puzzles, complex crypto challenges, hidden Easter eggs, and even the mechanical gear trains of a watch.

Each year’s badge creator endeavors to top previous designs and blow the minds of hard-to-impress hackers. But this year’s badges take a different tack. Instead of the badge designs being the star, it’s what is inside the hardware that will really stand out.

This year, Defcon asked legendary hardware hacker Andrew “bunnie” Huang to create the badges—revealed here for the first time—and they include an innovative open source chip that Huang designed and that aims to do no less than advance the state of security, transparency, and trustworthiness in computing."

  20. And now for the real test.. Did I get the level-shift topology right? Did I get the MOSFETs’ pinouts correct? Are we translating 3v3 to 5v?

    YES! That’s a relief!

Flipping the PCB over and using sockets in place of pin headers and vice versa works a real treat. Everything lines up perfectly.

Keychron has announced ZGM, an open-source firmware platform for gaming mice that's expected in early 2027. Built on the Zephyr RTOS, the goal is to make mouse firmware transparent, customizable, and auditable instead of the usual closed-source black box. If it catches on, it could be a really interesting step forward for gaming peripherals.

  31. “The Teufel Mynd project is a pretty impressive example of an Open Source Hardware project. All the mechanical and electronics design files are made public under a permissive license granting the four freedoms - to study, to share, to modify and to distribute modified versions of it. The data is complete enough to recreate the whole hardware, the mechanical enclosure as well as the electronics PCBs.

    There are only two caveats:

    - The loudspeakers themselves are, at least very likely, Teufel proprietary and Teufel does not sell them as spare parts.

    - The firmware for the Bluetooth module along with some DSP and USB type-C controller firmware are not Free Software. But at least the files are provided as binary blobs so one can build a complete firmware update file.

So the project fulfills the Open Source Hardware Definition.

    Let's dive into the details!”
