I don't remember exactly when I started this, probably high school. Anyway, 20+ years later it's finally done. I'd finished off the crosses and started the backstitching a couple years ago but had dropped it again.
- Crosses with 3 strands on 14-count is too chonky for my taste. (not helped by teenage me stitching one at a time instead of by rows.)
- The outlining was so tedious and some of it isn't contrasting enough to be visible at all -

I started stitching these cushion covers in May 2018, well "started again" would be more accurate – I'd done some of the Celtic knot one about 30 or so years ago but decided to abandon that & start again completely. That one (left in the photos) came from a book called "Celtic Needlepoint" by Alice Starmore, and I designed the other one to complement it. I finished the embroidery some time in 2019 and then bought materials to turn them into cushions and couldn't work out how to start to make that actually happen.
And today my friend Nicola very kindly made them into cushions for me! :D
I do still need to buy new cushion pads, as I bought the wrong size way back when, but they are still usable from now :)

💁🏻♀️ TIL: 🧵🪡 The nearly 70 m (230 ft) #BayeuxTapestry is an embroidered #linen cloth ending abruptly with the death of King Harold at the Battle of #Hastings, leaving scholars to wonder if a final coronation panel was lost.
Ahead of its #London debut, organizers launched a #competition asking #children to stitch their own hopeful ending. Winning classes earn a trip to see the #artifact and visit the #battlefield.
