Can’t concentrate so I learned Tunisian crochet (https://youtu.be/ZbMDz4egpVU), which is a technique that produces fabrics with square (1:1) stitches. The obvious thing for me to do is to make small 8×8 squares (with margins) and embroider them with tiny pixel art. (From what I saw embroidery looks better than changing colours, and it’s also easier). Searching "8x8" on r/PixelArt yielded some results, including these masterpieces by @johanvinet that manage to compress a mind-boggling amount of recognisability into 64 pixels with 16 colours:

לא מצליחה להתרכז אז למדתי לסרוג בטכניקה שנקראת „קרושה תוניסאי” (https://youtu.be/ZbMDz4egpVU), שמאפשרת ליצור סריגים עם עיניים רבועות (1:1). הדבר המתבקש ביותר הוא ליצור ריבועים קטנים של 8×8 עיניים (+שוליים) ולרקום עליהם אומנות פיקסלים זעירה. (ממה שראיתי רקמה יוצאת יותר יפה מהחלפת צבעים, והיא גם קלה יותר). חיפוש "8x8" ב־r/PixelArt הניב כמה תוצאות, ביניהן יצירות המופת האלה של @johanvinet, שמצליחות לדחוס כמות מדהימה של זיהוייות ל־64 ריבועים עם 16 צבעים:

It's been a while since my last actual update but wanted it to be a good sized one. The bottom portion of the head is now in view along with its glowing eye. It's been pretty tedious going with all the color swaps but I'm hoping off the dragon goes a bit quicker.

I've finished the nudibranch & labelled him (the french knot for the dot on the i is a little big, so I may one day strip that label out and redo it, or I may just decide to leave it as is). To the right I've started work on the snail, only about 2 colours in so I don't think he's recognisable right now.

I'm still about 2 weeks away from finishing this column of Nebamun, and I feel like it's been 2 weeks for several weeks now! It's going through a colour transition right now from the beige-y background to the blue of the papyrus plants so it feels like almost every stitch in the row is either finishing or ending a thread. So between that & having been busy the last couple of weeks I've been making very slow progress.

I’ve been working on this cross stitch that started out as a traditional pashas tent design. But I decided to expand it by extending the lines out and around.
Now I realise it’s resembling a QR code. Which is having me thinking about a future QR code cross stitch. 🤔
