1. The world needs 44 million more teachers by 2030.
2. 15 million of them in sub-Saharan Africa alone.
3. The share of primary teachers quitting each year nearly doubled, from 4.6% in 2015 to 9.1% in 2022.
4. The day marks October 5, 1966, when a Paris conference adopted the recommendation on teachers' rights.
