Ursula Le Guin w opowiadaniu "Ci, którzy odchodzą z Omelas" pisze, że szczęście wymaga umiejętności rozróżnienia między tym, co konieczne, tym, co jedynie przydatne i wygodne, oraz tym, co szkodliwe.

Warto zadać sobie pytanie, ile z tego, co robimy zwierzętom, jest rzeczywiście konieczne? A ile robimy dlatego, że tak zostaliśmy wychowani, bo tak jest łatwiej, taniej, smaczniej, wygodniej albo bardziej komfortowo w relacjach z innymi ludźmi?

Możemy doskonale rozpoznawać przemoc wtedy, kiedy dotyka nas albo grupy, z którą się utożsamiamy, i pozostawać ślepi wtedy, kiedy sami czerpiemy korzyści z określonego porządku.

Dekospot - den digitální nezávislosti

V neděli 5.7. bude Den digitální nezávislosti, a my se ho zúčastníme taky!

Přijďte na náš workshop, kde budeme diskutovat a pracovat na praktických krocích pro přechod na svobodný software, zlepšení digitální bezpečnosti a celkový vývoj vaší technologické nezávislosti.

Taky budeme mluvit o digitalních hrozbách pro aktivistvo a jak se před nimi chránit. Jakým zpusobem nás autority sledují? Před čím vás VPNky chrání, a před čím ne? Dostane se cajti do tvého mobilu? Dozvíte se praktické informace které vás a vaše komunity ochrání.

Workshop se bude konat jako část nedělního Dekospotu v Trhlině. 5.7. od 16:00.

Sunday the 5.7. is the Day of Digital Independence, and we are also participating!

Come join our workshop, where we'll discuss and offer practical steps for replacing proprietary software with free software, improving digital security and overall developing our technological independence.

We will also be talking about digital threats for activists and how to protect ourselves against them. How do the authorities spy on us? From what does VPN protect us and from what it doesnt? Will the police be able to break into your phone? Come to learn practical ifnormation to keep you and your community safe.

The workshop will be part of Sunday's Dekospot in Trhlina. 5.7. starting at 16:00.

💪 Ein starkes Zeichen gegen Gewalt!

♀️ In Herrenberg entsteht ein neues Frauen- und Kinderschutzhaus – ein sicherer Ort für Frauen und Kinder, die Gewalt erlebt haben.

🏡 Bis Ende 2027 sollen hier bis zu 25 Menschen Schutz, Unterstützung und neue Perspektiven finden.

🤝 Sozialminister Manne Lucha machte beim Spatenstich deutlich: Gewalt ist kein Privatproblem – wir müssen gemeinsam handeln.

💶 Das Land unterstützt das Projekt finanziell mit rund 3,8 Millionen Euro.

WELCOME TO OUR QRIB

Willow River Centre and Spectrum’s Black, Racialized and Indigenous Queers (BRIQ) House are co-organizing a series of events called QRIB (Queer, Racialized, Indigenous and Black) community hangouts to help foster a safer community for self-identifying queer, racialized, Indigenous and Black individuals. 

The two organizations started hosting these hangouts last year from Aug. 9 to Dec 13. Initially focused on karaoke, the hangouts have since evolved to include other community-focused activities like bonfires and discussion circles. 

The name “QRIB” is a play on words for the word crib and was chosen to evoke a sense of home or gathering space. The Willow-River Centre, an event venue based in Kitchener, played a key role by offering a space designed for the Indigenous and racialized queer population, incorporating culturally specific elements, local art and non-hierarchical, healing-focused community values, instead of clinical or colonial support models. 

“They bring a sense of safety for a lot of Indigenous and queer people locally,” Karla Gomez, a facilitator of the QRIB hangout, said.  

Spectrum provides funding and support, including food and resources at hangouts. Though the organization wasn’t initially inclusive, recent leadership changes made it more committed to reconciliation and community prioritization.  

“The hangouts are non-hierarchical, free, and community-led, fostering healing and connection in ways that feel safe and liberating to those involved,” Roni Noodle, a director of the QRIB hangouts, said. 

Noodle also explained how QRIB is unique in Kitchener-Waterloo, and no other local spaces offer the same intersectional support for 2SLGBTQIA+ and racialized individuals. Noodle described BRIQ House as another supportive space for Indigenous and queer people in the area but noted it holds a different relationship with the community compared to Willow River Centre. Although Spectrum started hosting QRIB hangouts to create a more inclusive space, it’s not a space designed for racialized, Black and Indigenous individuals. Even though they’re attempting to change, they decided a partnership with Willow River Centre will help them. 

“It’s a space where you don’t need to translate your soul. It’s designed with you in mind,” Roni said.  

They said that people from within the racialized or queer community are not always comfortable in public spaces and they do not feel acknowledged or seen, but this is a space where those individuals can feel comfort and express themselves more freely. 

Noodle explained that last year’s QRIB hangouts went very well. However, Spectrum’s director changed earlier this year and the two organizations were not sure if they had funding for the hangouts this year. However, the new director was very supportive of the events. 

“Events like this are too important to the community for us not to prioritize funding for it,” Gomez said.  

She said events such as the QRIB hangout need to exist, saying that Spectrum continues to show commitment to supporting these hangouts, by applying for funding for racialized Indigenous Queers. 

These events have had a successful turnout so far, with returning participants and new individuals joining the hangout, these events also address local issues revolving around the racialized, queer, and Indigenous communities such as peer support, food insecurity, loneliness, and isolation.

J’ai rencontré Hanneli Victoire presque par hasard, autour d’un projet que je trouvais formidable et qui me tenait à cœur, un tiers-lieu qui serait à la fois queer, calme et sans alcool, une sorte de sainte trinité qui semble aller de soi pour nombre des nos adelphes qui sont à la fois trans et neuroatypiques, mais qui continue d’échapper aux personnes qui ont à la fois l’énergie et les moyens de mettre ce genre d’espace à disposition. Je cherchais en 2021 à aider à la promotion de la Constellation par tous les moyens, et il se trouvait une personne trans dans l’équipe. C’est dans ce joli café aujourd’hui défunt, que nous avons enregistré cet échange, le premier en face à face.

Quand un podcast publié cette semaine commence par « Nous sommes le premier avril 2021 », c’est pas forcément une bonne nouvelle. Mais cet épisode a super bien vieilli dans l’ensemble ! Jena a très bien fait de partager son excellente interview avec Hanneli Victoire.

J’en retiens ces quelques sujets, pêle-mêle :

• Transitionner en passant par le milieu pd, rester loin du milieu lesbien avant la transition
• La représentation des personnes queer dans la culture mainstream
  • [Boys don’t cry], c’est vraiment du malheur pour du malheur.
  • Se contenter du strict minimum en termes de représentation trans.
  • Le manque de représentation des couples butch-butch
• Le t4t, fétichisme ou safe space ?
• Le choix de ne pas faire de transition médicale pour performer un genre quand le contexte l’exige.
• Avoir des lieux et des groupes d’ami·es oour passer un bon moment sans toujours se battre
  • Pourquoi la non-mixité est un super outil pour y arriver
  • Ne pas négliger le rôle des allié·es et partager les ressources entre les groupes marginalisés
• L’importance de la visibilité des personnes queer plus âgées et de partager nos archives
• Surmonter la peur de vieillir et l’injonction à réussir, et surtout à réussir jeune
• Plein de projets cool, dont certains malheureusement disparus : la Constellation, QueerCook, Eaux z’ons le genre, les Dégommeuses, Oenologouine, Pia Pia Média, les Archives LGBTQI+…
• Le premier roman de Hanneli Victoire, Rien à perdre (éd. Stock, 2023)

Attention, gros TW transphobie et viol sur toutes les dix premières minutes dédiées à la représentation des personnes trans dans le cinéma mainstream (notamment Boys don’t cry). Le sujet revient de temps en temps dans la suite.
