If you want to understand more about how white privilege works, especially in Victoria, BC, Canada - try suggesting developing a data centre in middle of Oak Bay - the richest, the whitest, the most privileged population in this city.
I'll bet my life, Mom's life, both my brother's lives - it would not go through, after only one council meeting, because super rich elites would not want that in their backyards. They're OK having it in our lesser privileged backyards though.That's the same municipality that refused to build or convert unused old buildings into more affordable housing. They're completely against any type of social housing or supportive housing for our most marginalized citizens too.

I've been offline for a few days. Worked back to back OT days, got more yard/gardening stuff done & met some community volunteering stewardship work commitments.
I worked 6am to 1pm today. My plan is to just rest at home this afternoon & enjoy a full day off, tomorrow.I got colourful metal buckets - only $1 for all of them & they were brand new. I added more river rocks to our front yard too.

Mom's cataracts doctor is a really wonderful Portuguese man. He understands immigrants & was very kind to my Mom. Dr. Pedago is one of the best doctors we have encountered in many years. Mom said - He has kind eyes/excellent human energy. I'm very grateful that we got him with a referral. I like to give credit, when it's truly due, to medical professionals, who treat their immigrant patients well. I notice it & also notice when some doctors have displayed bigoted behaviours towards immigrants (who aren't fully literate, like Mom). Real glad that I had no reasons to draw out my defensive tiger daughter claws, today 🐯

Mom & I picked our first homegrown #strawberries of 2026. Missing from photo are the 22 fruits we ate in yard, while picking them 🍓 They're really sweet & delicious. These are our native strawberries. Our June everbearing ones are about 2-3 times the size of these smaller, native strawberries. The native strawberries are smaller but their taste is much sweeter.

Two different footpath trails - leading out from the native plant garden. The rock steps trail leads to the short boardwalk that connects to a dock, over the lake, that has seating. The gravel path leads you to the lake loop trail, across the wetlands/marshes (prime frogs/turtles spotting area), over a long boardwalk that connects one side of the lake to the other. *In really rainy times - the trails on other side of lake get flooded out.
