Got a #bambulab #p2s on Friday. My previous 3D printer experience was a #Creality #ender3 which I wound up just giving away. The user experience on this thing is just light years ahead of what I’ve previously experienced.

Ich glaub ich hatte hier schon mal gefragt.
Sollte man sich noch einen Bambu Lab 3D Drucker kaufen oder sollte man jetzt wegen der Firmenpolitik mit dem Cloud und Walled Garden abstand davon halten und zu einem anderen Gerät greifen?

Also, to be clear, the problem with the heater assembly this time was a shared disaster.

The first time, it literally shoved so much PLA up in there that you couldn't rescue it or use it again.

This time, I caught it earlier and not nearly as much was gummed in there. I was trying to be comprehensive in pulling out possible clumps behind the hotend (where you can't see well) and I think I caught one of the black heater wires (amidst the black PLA) and broke it off.

And, yes, I'm very aware of their increasingly worrisome policies and behavior. This is one of those situations of already being quite invested (and generally happy) before the corporate rug pull starts...

For the most part, my Bambu H2S is a fire and forget printer. It just does a great job 99% of the time.

Having a print detach is crazy for me. Maybe a few times total. But of the few of times it's ever happened, twice now it's blobbed up into the hotend. The first time ate the heater assembly so badly they replaced the part under warranty. I was smart enough to buy a spare of my own just in case.

Tonight was that second time. Spare used. Two more ordered.

Very irked.

A blunt advice for #3DPrinting:

If you want to diy, look into #Voron designs, RatRig, ProForge 300 and others.

HOWEVER if you just want a printer that works, from a company that won't fuck you over, buy a #Prusa. Period. Their attempts at OSI-non-compliant licenses are a piss in the ocean compared to what #BambuLab, #Creality, #FlashForge, #Elegoo, #Anycubic and even #Sovol have been done or are still doing (to be fair, with Sovol it's mostly trashy customer support).

@soc I don't blame the dev.
But if you want to see blood in the water, Rossmann has published the code to his own Github and is daring BambuLab to sue him over it.

Bambu printer owners can now use the full feature set again and also Bambu will likely be embarrassed in court for violating AGPL and other things should they try to go after Rossmann.

Is the @eff already aware of this, especially the AGPL violation?

Hach, ich liebe es, wenn man sich Ersatzteile einfach selber drucken kann. Beim Joystick von meiner Spacemouse löst sich die Gummierung langsam auf und ist klebrig. Da ich scheinbar nicht der einzige bin, der dieses Problem hat, gibt es zum Glück schon einige kostenlose Modelle zum selber drucken.

So I took a glance at Ratrig as they offer an IDEX upgrade. So my questions: do they work stable, can calibrate automatically and print without further fiddling once build and set up?

Having an idea for a simple, parametric spool adapter, writing the code in #OpenSCAD, generating the 3MF file for the slicer, sending it to the #BambuLab #A1mini printer and having it printed. All in less than an hour. I like!
