Just before the main hall of the temple there is a memorial tower for chasen (茶筅), the bamboo whisks used in tea ceremony (and to make matcha).
Each April 28th a memorial service for old chasen is held at the 'chasen-zuka' (茶筅塚). -

⚔️Nanzen-ji (南禅寺) = 'Buke-zura' (武家面) 'The Face of Warriors' - many daimyō took the tonsure, provided financial support, and helped found sub-temples here.

Ryōgen-in's (龍源院) 'Tōtekiko' (東滴壺) is considered by many to be the smallest rock garden in Japan.
Designed in 1958 by Nabeshima Gakushō (鍋島岳生), it was inspired by the zen saying "the harder a stone is thrown in, the bigger the ripples".

Today's #digitaldetox was #kyoto #botanicalgarden again. I particularly like this picture. It's called "heron grass" (鷺草), and indeed the picture looks to me like white herons flying in the morning fog over a river.
