  1. What a beautiful afternoon at the Royal Exhibition Building Open Day!

This is being held to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the opening of Australia's first federal Parliament on 8 May 1901.

Thousands of people came to enjoy the free entry into the Building. It's been very nicely restored inside including the murals and wall decorations. The building and its surrounds is Melbourne's only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today it also had Charles Nuttall's painting of the opening of Parliament, which is rarely exhibited and was last seen publicly in 2001.

But the highlight might have just been the Dome Walk. I queued for about an hour to get up to the roof but it was well worth the wait.

I reached the roof just as dusk started. The light was perfect making the already expansive views even more glorious. Unfortunately there wasn't time to visit the basement but that just means I have to come back!

It's on tomorrow too (Sunday 10 May). If you haven't been already I'd highly recommend it!
