It is something that most likely any #budo #teacher will repeat, the basics needs to be understood first, learned through #training, and only after that can one start to apply them further.

Kumejima, #Okinawa, #Japan, is the birthplace of Taira Shinken sensei who made sure we have the ability to study #ryukyu #kobujutsu.

  13. Another thread for the #Ryukyu Heritage Days ! #JEP2023 #EHD2023 @archaeodons Girimui is located on the hill just next to Shimashii Ufuzatu Gusuku. It was the gusuku of the person who ruled over the area before Shimashii Ufuzatu Aji, named Tamamura Aji. He first lived there and then built Shimashii Ufuzatu Gusuku. He was overthrown by Ōeiji, one of the kings of the Nanzan Kingdom and the dynasty started to live in Shimashii Ufuzatu.

  14. The #Ryukyu Heritage Days are still ongoing ! Meet Chichingā, the well just outside of Shimashii Ufuzatu Gusuku next to the gate. Apparently they tried to enclose it inside the castle walls once, but it might not have pleased the water gods, and the well dried off so the castle wall was moved again to keep the well outside. It is also said that this well was dug when the Sukuyama-nu-ukā well inside the innermost enclosure of the castle dried off. #JEP2023 #EHD2023 @archaeodons
