Update:
So this morning I was successfully able to jump my GTS container from my Synology NAS I’ve to a container on my main server box. It worked no problem this time, so I suspect my hypothesis about getting limited by LetsEncrypt was correct; after letting it cool down for a couple of days it’s started up no problem.
I’m expecting a noticeable performance bump as the new hardware has a lot more torque. Performance on the NAS was fine, until it started doing disk-intensive stuff which introduced quite a bit of lag.

Today is the first day I ever had to recover something from a backup. Luckily I have a good backup strategy so it was as easy as mounting my backup drive and copying the files back.
Keep backups, save yourself a lot of trouble and money! And make sure they work!

Update on the #GoToSocial project: it definitely seems to stall out when the disk I/O ramps up on the NAS due to a scheduled backup task. I tried relocating the GTS instance to container on a different machine, and then to a VM on a different machine but both attempts failed; something to to with LetsEncrypt. I suspect maybe I got rate-limited?
Anyway, it’s back under the NAS for now. I did some tweaking of the timing of the backup jobs so we’ll see what happens tomorrow morning. 🤷♂️

thank you everyone who recommended Doku Wiki. its very lightweight and also very extensible, with just a couple plugins i'm able to basically just host a plain html website except now i can edit it on my phone, as markdown, and include templates. Definitely a sweet spot for "i want slightly more than neocities offers."

Win of the day
I am currently thousands of kilometers from my homelab, and one of my nodes crashed. This cascaded into several services going down, including my auth provider (PocketID), so I couldn't log in from new devices
I recently installed a network enabled PDU into the rack, so I could log into its web interface by tunneling through various SSH hoops, but I never mapped which outlet goes to what host
I eventually could correspond the last node event in my k3s cluster with the consumption on one outlet, sent a reboot instruction, and the node came back up
Is it what I'm supposed to cross arms and say "Hackerman" ?

Had a little bumpy on the personal server this AM; it was throwing out 500 errors all over the place. Suspected cause: memory overflow. I’ve upped the memory allocation from 4 to 8GB. Let’s see how that goes…

O mini-pc que comprei para cacharrear como home server só tem VGA, Display Port e USB. O meu ecrã tem um cabo HDMI. Qual seria a melhor opção para conecta-los? Acho que só o preciso para a instalação (estou pensando en Ubuntu Server), depois poderia fazer todo de forma remota, não sim?

I'm pretty certain I'll remove the stability-matrix from the setup as I primarily used it for research/learning (Note: I wanted to see how it works and what parts were required, how they fit together....)
Now it's a resource hog for a piece of tech I don't need. There is enough open-source resources available and frankly am a little uncomfortable running anyway?
I also need to refine the specific model param sizes and quant configuration across my cluster, because right now some tasks are being done by models 10x the size required for that level of complexity.
Just downscaling the embedder to nomic from qwens already efficient one was a 90% VRAM usage cut for that task 🙃
