After a month of testing I can say that this player is the best I've ever found for self hosted servers such as navidrome and jellyfin (it also has plex but I have abandoned). On the site reports that there is also a linux desktop version but not yet tested. That will be my paradise for self hosted music 🥹

I finally cleaned up the genres in my Jellyfin music library, thanks to Picard.
I had an issue where Nextcloud wasn't showing me all the folders in the music library, found a way to force rescan then was able to see all folders on my local client and batch edit the metadata with Picard.
Hopefully this will help Jellyfin offer better suggestions when doing auto mixes.

Notes on the native linux apps I've tried.
#vacuumtube the "prove you're not a bot" ruins it
#jellyfin seriously? How is it this broken.
#freetube "bigscreen" mode in name only
#Stremio choppy video
#kdeconnect no input, not usable as remote
#waydroid a lot of set up, screen tearing -

@blainsmith - And if you do go down the self-hosted rabbithole, check out Feishin as a local streaming client that can connect to your server (over a VPN like Tailscale).

@blainsmith - I buy indie stuff from Bandcamp, and more mainstream stuff from Amazon MP3. Obscure stuff, I track down the media and digitize that.
All of it is stored in a Dropbox folder and I use tools like Dropsync to keep the collection sync'ed on my own Jellyfin music server and Android phone running doubleTwist.
It's been great building out my own collection and (private) streaming service.

Jellyfin’s UI may be outdated, at least it doesn’t get in my way.

-
In other news Chi's Open Media Vault 8 #nas is now fully populated with drives and running.
#nextcloud , #paperlessngx , #jellyfin and #technitium containers are configured, up and running.
#NetBird VM configured & connected #rsync to my NAS is runningGods I wish I had a faster connection.
250 MBit/s Down, 100 Mbit/s Up would have been amazing... 20 years ago.
Chi has 10 Gbit/s symetric and doesn't even pay twice what I pay.
I hate being the bottleneck.

📬 Plex zieht beim Fernzugriff die Schrauben an, was Tailscale im Alltag ausgleicht

Jellyfin Web

In this episode I play a song by You Am I; buying some cameras seems be helping the dog pee situation; we took the first road trip in the electric Audi; the free credits with Electrify America aren’t of much worse when they never work; I am playing lots of solitaire; I created a spreadsheet to help me make arbitrary choices; I wondered if I was being too hard on dogmatic punks until I heard Chris Shifflett make the same points as me on Turned Out A Punk; Chris Gethard on Death Sex and Money defends making art and having a day job; I migrated from Wilosophy to TOFOP via the Everyone Relax feed; the kid and I have decided to take up watching Australian Rules Football; I used to watch weird shit on ESPN in the 80s; I was knocked out by the Do You Need a Ride podcast merch store; Self-Hosted is on about the enshittification of Plex; I am not buying any more hardware from companies that want to sell me content; I don’t love Jellyfin the way I should; I don’t love Docker the way nerds think I should; I want a color Onyx Boox 10″ but I do not want to pay $500.

@fyw321 @geerlingguy My 8 node cluster costs around 55W via POE. It is 3 pi4 8G control+worker nodes, and 5 pi4 4G worker-only nodes (1 is actually 8G.)
Storage is #iscsi on spinning rust on #TrueNAS, but you can do all this on local disks.
It handles a LOT:
- #Promstack, #FluxCD, #Calico, various scrapers
- #Adguard
- #Blocky (another adblocking #dns)
- #Jellyfin
- #Ombi, Prowlarr, *arr, Deluge
- Home automation helpers (#ser2sock instances, #zigbee/#zwave 2mqtt, but not HA itself)
- #Argo for builds (deprecated in favor of the x64 cloud lab. Building x64 docker containers on arm is BAD)
- Democratic CSI for iscsi/nfs
- #GoHarbor container registry & #dockerhub cache
- #Mealie recipe manager
- #Monica contact manager
- #SMTP relay to gmail
- #Ubiquiti console (bootstrapping becomes a chicken and egg problem though, if it goes down wrong)
- #Wireguard #VPN server
- #Whoogle
- #VisualStudioCode and a #dind sidecar
- SSL termination for most of the rest of the network
