  1. i have updated to Jellyfin 12 but seems to be missing a major feature - i used to go to users, select a user and go to their profile and use 'quick connect' - this has now been removed? As the server admin it was only way to get some users on to system, why on earth remove it for admins? No way i can now login to test accounts or change exiting accounts without it.

  2. @Mountaineer Great to hear. This #jellyfin has been a long time coming. But I'm waiting for the 12.1 or 12.0.1 release. I want to see the tires kicked a bit first.

  5. Self-hosting private media with Jellyfin and the ability to program simple scripts to help with daily tasks make me happy.

I recently added my old Finnish Moomin collection to my Jellyfin and had to write my own nfo files to tell the system what's different from the Japanese original series.

A bit of shell scripting, a bit of Javascript to format data from Wikipedia and a bit of Python to put all that together.

  13. Happy to report a successful upgrade day, with both #Jellyfin 12.0 and #Nextcloud doing the upgrades without incident, although I have hit the threshold where NC upgrades can only be done with updater.phar from a command line.

  18. @alcinnz - If you have some recent vintage computers (from the last decade or so) around and are comfortable being your own sysadmin, I can't recommend Jellyfin enough.

They recently had a new release drop as well, which brings in books and comics, in addition to film am music.

It's nice having your own streaming server in your closet (and accessible outside your home network via a VPN like Tailscale).

  23. So... are we all just blasting away at MusicBrainz database as we re-scan our Audio Libraries in Jellyfin 12?

  28. After the Jellyfin 12.0 release earlier today, I've now also released the first beta of #jellyfin for Android TV version 0.20.

The timing was a bit of a coincidence. The releases would've been near each other from the start, but I never intended it to be on the same day 😆.

This first beta is **not** available on our Google Play beta track. That will happen starting with the next beta release.

  38. Spent a little time updating #Jellyfin to 12.0, and it was pleasantly uneventful. :jellyfin:

Thanks to all the devs that worked on this release!

  42. #jellyfin is out with a new release and people are getting pretty excited about upgrading to it.

If you'd rather not be an early adopter on an #ai #llm project, let other people upgrade and deal with issues if your server is working okay.

I really wish people were clamoring to fork Jellyfin, but it currently seems very unlikely. General PSA for the #noai crowd.
