🧻 This tutorial is designed for #openwrt users and #pihole / #unbound users looking for a clean way to protect your LAN's DNS. This tutorial used a dedicated vlan/subnet with 4 Wyze v4 cams but/and can easily be extended to any IoT devices one chooses. There are three types of actions covered in this tutorial:

- Hijacking plain-text udp 53 and udp 853 DNS requests
- Hijacking tcp 853 (DoT) requests
- Dropping DoH requests for specified upstream DNS ips

@davidlohner Sowohl in der Firma, als auch privat quad9. Die machen aber kein malware/adblocking, das mache ich mit #pihole (https://pi-hole.net). Will man beides in einem Paket, sind adguard oder dnsforge die Kandidaten der Wahl.

Bin gerade in Italien im Urlaub und immer wieder schockiert, wenn man mal ohne Adblocker ins Internet schaut 🙈 Habe immer einen kleinen Reise-Router dabei, der WiFi macht und den Traffic über das Heimnetz für Blocking routet 😎

Kennt das jemand? Der Artikel ist reißerisch geschrieben, aber letztendlich soll dieser DNS Blocker ein bessere Ersatz für Pi hole oder Adguard Home darstellen.

@daniel1820815 Ich werde über kurz oder lang mein #pihole zwar installiert aber nicht scharf geschaltet lassen. Das filtern unter #proxmox funktioniert unzuverlässig und was noch schlimmer ist, das Clients im Subnet nicht erkannt werden. Und ja unter einem #rasberrypi hat es ohne zu klagen Funktion.

Was ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen kann: Bei einer Pi-hole-Installation auf dem Raspberry Pi werden alle Clients DNS Anfragen sauber aufgelistet und angezeigt – warum funktioniert das unter #Proxmox nicht ebenso?

Installing pihole 6 on Debian Sid:

You _may_ encounter a "dependency unmet error".

To fix - manually install "bind9-dnsutils" and "lshw", then edit basic-install.sh and find the creation of the debian-meta.deb package. Modify the dependency to look for bind9-dnsutils instead of just dnsutils.

Then - run the base-install.sh.

Minor upgrade. Added an 128G eMMC module to my #LePotato running #pihole on #armbian. armbian-config made it simple to transfer the installed OS from the sd-card to the emmc module. Had to fix a permission problem on one file to get pihole web ui working again. #librecomputer

Finally got my new Raspberry Pi 5 installed in its black aluminum Argon40 ONE V3 M.2 NVME PCIe case with a 4TB SSD. This thing is gonna be my new @openmediavault, @homeassistant, @portainerio, @jellyfin, and PiHole server, all rolled into a tiny little package roughly the size of a couple decks of playing cards.

Had to downgrade my #ubiquiti #accesspoints going bonkers contacting ui crash services literally every second which I've saw in #pihole. Note to self: no pre-releases anymore.

Even when opt'ed out of #ubiquiti #datacollection in the #unifiController , the #ap's are frequently trying to access trace.svc.ui.com. The opt-out ain't an opt-out, I guess the editing of the config is still necessary after years: https://community.ui.com/questions/Where-do-I-put-the-config-properties-file-to-opt-out-analytics-100percent/3192f835-8ec0-4d1d-a09c-5c75ee8e15dc. Or just use #pihole and block their stuff.

It's nice but #nosy #hardware.

I am getting a #fiber LAN connection with initially 100mbps up and 250mbps down and expect higher speeds in future. It must allow a #pihole dns. For 3-floor house each of 33m^2 with wooden celings/floors. I want #10Gbps ethernet internaly for #NAS. Which #router is best and future proof and why?

Looks like my #ASUSTOR #NAS has a bunch of new #firmware updates as well, including one that adds built-in WS-Discovery support, so I can uninstall #wsdd2 from #entware.

Also noticed that ntpq is really slow on the NAS because it tries to reverse-DNS-query all the time server IPs, and for some stupid reason #Docker hosts can't talk to their own containers, so queries to my primary #pihole container time out. I probably need to write a script to overwrite /etc/resolv.conf or something.

I've seen some pretty nifty #homelab network maps on here, I need to get around to making something like that.
