🧻 This tutorial is designed for #openwrt users and #pihole / #unbound users looking for a clean way to protect your LAN's DNS. This tutorial used a dedicated vlan/subnet with 4 Wyze v4 cams but/and can easily be extended to any OIT devices one chooses. There are three types of actions covered in this tutorial:
- Hijacking plain-text udp 53 and udp 853 DNS requests
- Hijacking tcp 853 (DoT) requests
- Dropping DoH requests for specified upstream DNS ips📜 I hope people find this tutorial helpful. Feedback and comments are welcome. @davidlohner Sowohl in der Firma, als auch privat quad9. Die machen aber kein malware/adblocking, das mache ich mit #pihole (https://pi-hole.net). Will man beides in einem Paket, sind adguard oder dnsforge die Kandidaten der Wahl.
Bin gerade in Italien im Urlaub und immer wieder schockiert, wenn man mal ohne Adblocker ins Internet schaut 🙈 Habe immer einen kleinen Reise-Router dabei, der WiFi macht und den Traffic über das Heimnetz für Blocking routet 😎

Kommt drauf an: Wenn die Werbung als "normales" Video daherkommt (wie seit neulich in den Shorts) oder von Streamern während des Streams präsentiert wird, wird das natürlich nicht gefiltert (da dürfte jedoch auch der DuckDuckGo-Browser einknicken). Alles andere wird bei mir gefiltert und ins Datennirvana geschickt. Ich habe weder vor noch während noch nach den Streams irgendwelche von utube eingespielte Werbeblöcke oder Werbung neben dem Player.
Das funktioniert übrigens nicht nur bei utube, sondern auch bei allen anderen Seiten, die irgendwelche Werbung schalten.

RethinkDNS v0.5.5x ist draußen – bei mir bisher keine Probleme. Einzige Auffälligkeit: Unter der DNS-Kachel in der Hauptansicht wird der lokale Pi-hole oft als »Fehlgeschlagen« oder »sehr langsam« angezeigt. Trotzdem funktioniert alles einwandfrei – die Anzeige scheint also schlicht falsch zu sein.

Raspberry Pi als Heimserver – #8 – PiHole
Aus meiner Sicht gehört ein Werbeblocker in jedes moderne Smart-Home. Egal, ob man einen DNS-Dienst wie NextDNS oder AdGuard-DNS nutzt oder lokal eine Lösung wie PiHole oder AdGuard Home betreibt – das Blockieren von Werbung, Tracking und Malware-Domains erhöht nicht nur die Surfgeschwindigkeit, sondern auch die Sicherheit und den Datenschutz aller Geräte im Netzwerk. Ich selber nutze zwar primär AdGuard-DNS für eine einfache und effektive Lösung. In meinem Beitrag Werbung effektiv blockieren – Meine Empfehlung bin ich bereits darauf eingegangen. Allerdings möchte nicht jeder Geld für einen solchen Dienst bezahlen, und viele FOSS Enthusiasten ziehen eine selbst gehostete Lösung vor, um die volle Kontrolle zu behalten. Daher möchte ich in dieser Fortsetzung meiner Raspberry Pi Heimserver-Reihe PiHole vorstellen und zeigen, wie einfach die Installation und Konfiguration ist. En @mikrotik van a meter #Apps, no es más que una manera de desplegar contenedores #Docker sin tener que pelearte con archivos de configuración y comandos de terminal.
Está claro que un #Router debe ser solo eso... pero esto abre posibilidades para el #selfhosting a más gente. Y aunque quizás no sea para todo, podría encajar un #PiHole o #AdGuardDNS

La page que j'ai pris en exemple est banale. Avec divers bloqueur (#ublock + #privacybadger + #pihole), le chargement ne prends que quelques secondes est c'est OK (le contenu utile s'affiche bien).
J'ai désactivé tout ça et j'ai relancé la même page. Des données (plusieurs dizaines de Mo et des milliers de requêtes) sont chargées en continu tant que la page s'affiche, pour rien, absolument rien d'utile !
J'ai beau le savoir, ça me fait toujours halluciner de constater ça.

Ugh, I'd like to "have a word" with the AP/CollegeBoard people who designed their website. It uses way too many domains/trackers for my taste. The amount of things I've had to whitelist just for basic website functionality is simply excessive. It just feels...gross...to visit websites like that.

Windows started reporting a ton of errors like "A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established" and "Metadata staging failed, result=0x80070490 for container."
After troubleshooting for a while the reason turned out to be my RPZ blackhole source, Hagezi's multi.txt, brainlessly started including blocks for hosts under metaservices.microsoft.com, which breaks the Device Setup Manager service in Windows.
Added an allow-list entry for it, and now things are fine.
Boo to Microsoft for NOT LOGGING THE ACTUAL ERROR ANYWHERE, which would have made this a lot faster to resolve. A simple "DNS resolution failed for redir.metaservices.microsoft.com" would have made it so obvious.
