Yesterday my Droplet smart water monitoring device notified me that it noticed an unusually water flow. After checking around, somebody (me) left a tap slightly running. This saved me from a larger than usual water bill. Love this device. Works great and integrates with #HomeAssistant .

I wanted to go to IKEA next week to buy some smart bulbs (and some other stuff, candles mostly) for the remainder of my lamps which don’t have them yet. Unfortunately they are all Matter/Thread only now and the ones I have already were Zigbee (like the rest of nearly all my smartphone devices) and my ZBT-1 (my Zigbee router for Home Assistant) can’t be used for both at the same time, only for either Zigbee or Matter/Thread.

I guess I will buy the new ZBT-2 to run that as my Matter/Thread router and keep the old one for Zigbee to have backwards compatibility. And I will also slowly migrate to Matter? I don’t know. I don’t like having so many different technologies. At least now they seem to have compromised on a standard and are keeping that (hopefully).

After running my new Thread network for a few days without issues, I just ran into my first hiccup: one of my power sockets wouldn’t turn on. Looking at the mesh topology, the link to the OTBR in the basement seems pretty weak. I probably need to add more FTDs, or reconsider the positioning of the Border Router.
