Ich habe mal wieder einen Fall von "Kleiner Fehler - große Wirkung" erlebt. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣

Ich habe vor 2 Tagen ein #Backup meiner #TrueNAS #VM in #Proxmox zurückgespielt. Nach dem Booten hat mir TrueNAS den #ZFS Pool "Data" als unhealthy angezeigt.

Ursache: Dieser liegt auf 2 16 TB SSDs, die in Proxmox in die VM durchgereicht sind - und offensichtlich ist diese Durchreichung nach dem Rückspielen eines Backups nicht mehr vorhanden. Gut zu wissen.

Also die HDs wieder durchgereicht und die TrueNAS VM neu gestartet. Passt.

Dann liefen allerdings in den vergangenen 2 Nächten die Backups der VMS nicht mehr durch, weshalb alle VMs - leider auch der #Homeassistant - in einem nicht erreichbaren Zustand hängen geblieben sind. 😠

Ein I/O Fehler bei der für das Backup temporär angelegten VM-Konfigurationsdatei unter '/etc/pve/nodes/c2b-pve/qemu-server' brachte mich erst auf die falsche Spur - ich dachte schon shit, jetzt auch noch Probleme im Dateisystem von Proxmox.

Doch am Ende - zum Glück - weit gefehlt. Nach dem Durchreichen der HDs in die VM hätte ich diese auch wieder vom Backup ausschließen müssen. Da ich das nicht gemacht habe, lief während des Backups aller VMs schlicht und ergreifend das Backup-Laufwerk voll.

Nach dem Ausschließen der HDs vom Backup lief der testweise auf 12:45 vorverlegte Backup-Cronjob wieder erfolgreich durch.

Kleine Ursache - große Wirkung eben 🤣

Das IOmeter SmartMeter zum Stromzählerauslesen ist mit der "Internetverbindung" zufrieden, wenn es DNS und NTP hat. Also udp 53 an den router und udp port 123 ins internet erlauben und dann darf man die lokale API verwenden. Zumindest im Betrieb, ob das auch für die Einrichtung gereicht hätte kann ich nicht sagen

Das Gerät würde ich aber nur empfehlen, wenn ihr am Stromzähler mit Batteriebetrieb auskommen müsst

Heimspeicher defekt 🥲

➡️ Das Problem habe ich selbst identifiziert, darum rate ich euch auch ab und zu mal die eigene Installation kritisch zu prüfen.

➡️ Ich nutze u.a. #HomeAssistant um die Betriebsparameter des Systems zu visualisieren und zu loggen.

➡️ Dabei ist mir aufgefallen, dass der Batterie Zyklenzähler große Sprünge hat.

All muscles are aching, but very satisfied now.

The #climatechange is making north pole warmer. That causes the #polarvortex to break. Last winter that very cold air sloshed over us. I burnt all I had, but should have had a bit more. I have electric heating but my 100 years old house starts dropping temperature inside when outside drops below -10c.

Going back to #homelab, I have #homeassistant automation to prevent water pipes freezing, which turns on a BIG heating fan in basement when it's winter, outside is below - 5c and basement is below +5c at least five hours. Guess what, some glitch triggered the fan few years ago during summer, probably because the little Zigbee temperature probe got low battery. After that I added those extra safeguards.

I've just managed to hook together a water consumption meter for #homeassistant using Shelly PlusUni, on the pulse input having a cheap PL-08N2 proximity sensor and a GMDM-I water meter. The meter manufacturer produces an inductive sensor as well, but the price difference is huge (50 Eur for the official sensor, 3 Eur for the cheap one). The meter produces 1 pulse / litre of water.
So far, the results seem to be promising.

So you're not dependent on your laptop being switched on.

@niq if your wifi is solid you can look at Shelly, else if you have a zigbee network running look at Aqara or Sonoff.

I run mostly Shelly and have some low power Zigbee stuff from Aqara, both rock solid for years. Controlled by #homeassistant running on a homeassistant yellow.

Dear #homeassistant crowd. I am tired of our 433MHz plugs (not integrated into HA - just using the remote that came with them) sometimes not turning on when I press the remote. What smartplugs can you recommend?

- Easy integration into HA
- Switchable with a remote I can just have laying around

I have no existing zigbee/matter infrastructure. So if I need anything else for this a mention of it would be great.
