Is anyone using the #trmnl #homeassistant add-on?
Would be a nice use case for this device. -

I have already mentioned Gladys, the open source software for controlling connected devices in your home. Pierre-Gilles Leymarie, founder of the project, has launched The Gladys Gateway which enables you to control your Gladys instance from whenever you are in the world.

Gestern kam mein Home Assistant Green.

Managed to get #Matter #Thread with the ikea dirigera talk to #HomeAssistant whilst being connected in a different VLAN
I am mentally drained. Off to bed

#Virtualisierung wo immer möglich kann man nur empfehlen. -
@gg dasselbe hat #Vorwerk mit #Neato gemacht.

The ancient LRT214 router, that has been running 24/7 for 6 years. It didn't fail, it's just not open source. So today, I swapped in my DIY OPNSense router.
Speaking of not trusting closed-source or the cloud....my Home Assistant system is also coming along super nicely!

New blogpost:
"Fixing a proxying problem with my HomeAssistantOS installation by replacing nginx proxy manager"
tl;dr: I removed the “nginx proxy manager” add-on, and replaced it with the Let’s Encrypt add-on and (second) the nginx add-on.

Lately I haven't been taking anything #running with me except my iPod video and some headphones. For the longest time, I was trying to use a stopwatch while I was running to track my pace, but I kept accidentally stopping it in the middle of the run. Today I figured out that I could just use #frigate on my #homeassistant instance to see when I got back to the house and calculate my total time from that.

@gnulinux

Watching this video on making a "dumb device" into a smart device without calling a company, without the need for a proprietary app, etc.
It's a lot of work, but this feels like just the kind of thing that makes the world a better place.

Schauts euch mal an.

Has anyone been able to integrate a home #DVS (specifically not #HRV) with #HomeAssistant? I wouldn't mind some wiring or #soldering on the thing, but I haven't found any bus decoder yet.

I’ve snazzed up the #PowerDashboard for the #SolarPanels and #Batteries on #HomeAssistant There is actually some duplication but I can see everything I need on one page now. The built-in #EnergyDashboard is useful for cummulative energy through the day. (I reduced the page font and images to get all the graphs and data onto one screenshot.)
-
I need #electronics insight.
I built a 4-20mA receiver for a liquid-level pressure sensor about a year ago https://blog.narf.ssji.net/2025/06/30/water-tank-level-sensor-4-20ma-current-loop-esphome-and-home-assistant/ and it has been working just fine. It's using an ESP32-PoE2 from @olimex
A couple of weeks ago, it started (incorrectly) reporting a fast-lowering water level. The current through my resistor, controlled by the sensor, was dropping.
Ultimately, that took the whole sensor down. It still pulls PoE power (1--2W), but doesn't respond to ping, #ESPHome or #HomeAssistant.
It took it out, cleaned it, and revived it. But it died again a few days back in service.
Anyone has guesses as to the causes, or suggestions to debug?

I finally managed to fix the remote access to our #Kostal inverter via #Tailscale to feed its data into #Homeassistant. Many hashtags, many potentials to break the chain.
Let's see how long it will last this time. -

#Matter is dead. Long live #Zigbee and #Zwave for #HomeAutomation #HomeAssistant #Homelab!
I gave Matter years of my live, sweat equity and precious real money. No more. This article tells it. I made the decision a couple days ago to dump my devices that require Matter. The battery issues, network fragmentation, latency, … it is all as the article says. Meanwhile, my Zigbee network has scaled nicely, batteries lasting up to 2 years, stable and responsive.

I need a bit of help from #HomeAssistant users, if I may.
I am planning on moving my current HA box (x86) to an extra RPi5 (with NVMe storage), since CPU and memory load is low, doing a full backup on the x86 box and then restoring it on the Pi.
I have, however, two (three?) questions:
- Can I simply unplug the #Zigbee dongle from one machine to the other, with no need to resync all my dozens of Zigbee devices?
- Alternatively, since I have a second Zigbee dongle, can I migrate Zigbee to the other dongle on the RPi5, which would allow me to repurpose the dongle currently in use to Matter/Thread, without needing to resync the devices?
- Anything specific I should be aware for this migration? I know some add-ons/apps are not available for ARM CPUs, but I don't think I'll have that problem, and I'm aware that can be an issue.
All input welcome, and thanks in advance!

Update from the #homeassistant trenches. Am trying a full fresh install but have found the #solaredge integration no longer accepts my credentials while this was working up until the system borked. Sigh.

Update: Eine gute Integration in #HomeAssistant wäre mir wichtig. Dafür würde ich #ONWIF-Streams bevorzugen. -
I’m gradually improving my understanding of using #HomeAssistant to monitor domestic #Power input and output. The integration I have comes with a nice #Dashboard for accumulated #Energy but I wanted one which gave as close to an instantaneous record of power consumption and production as possible plus a history as well. This is that custom dashboard and it tells me what I want to know.
