Phoscon ConBee II Review
https://www.allthethings.best/phoscon-conbee-ii-review
The Phoscon ConBee II remains a solid, well-supported Zigbee coordinator for anyone with an existing Home Assistant or deCONZ setup. It's stable, still gets regular firmware updates, and works cleanly with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT too.

Throwing the Minosoton weatherproof switch in the trash. #HomeAssistant cannot finish loading or pairing.
And apparantly, so too the #Honeywell outdoor switch.
AND NOW ALSO the #GE outdoor switch.
Jesus, guess I'll just use an indoor switch until it fails.
Fuck HA.
-
Damn, I seem to have forgotten how bad #Zwave is on #HomeAssistant because I'm thinking it's somehow gotten worse than my previous 3 or 4 attempts at HA.
Thank goodness I can un-pair this Minoston switch easily, cuz pairing it is proving to be a trainwreck.

@web_martin 2 working days for 2 highly qualified IT professionals, one 140 km train trip, and it works. I have no clue what we've done differently finally. But once it worked in HAOS VM, moving it to Docker compose containers was relatively easy. #HomeAssistant #Matter #Thread

After connecting my account with my energy provider to #HomeAssistant and looking at the energy usage graph for a given day, I can tell when my wife dried her hair.
That's wild.

Weekend #homeassistant project:
Picked up a Eureka J15 Ultra robot vac, going to install a brain parasite in it ( ie, valetudo).
Wish me luck...

are there any good alternatives to Shelly Pro 3EM electricity meters, that also work with Home Assistant?
Shelly products are overall good, but the update process is reason enough, never to buy Shelly products again - either opening ports on your router, or using a hotspot on your phone to connect the Shelly, while connecting to the Shelly hotspot 🤦. One might think these devs are dumb, or they just want to spy on you.

Was nutzt ihr? Was habt ihr für Erfahrungen oder Tips? -

@claude_flammang It's grown over the years.. Pretty much everything in my house is monitored and / or controllable. With lots of ESPHome stuff, Zigbee and Z-Wave. It adds up. :) Love #homeassistant but the web frontend limitation is really annoying and limits how many of my old Raspberry Pi and similar low powered devices I can effectively use. I run HA in a #proxmox VM on a decent system, so there is no lag or issues there.

Was tun?

@claude_flammang I have ~11k entities and ~500 devices. A pi5 can mostly keep up, but is sluggish on the web frontend. A modern PC is fine. But I have a few Pi4 and 3s around the house that used to run web-based small (only a few switches and readouts) dashboards, but they became unusable as I kept expanding my system. I would love to see a re-do someday of the #homeassistant frontend that supports a subscription model where the page only gets the entities it needs, nothing more. Until then ... #codex has been very good at replicating HA dashboards in #python.. :)

Where does your smart home’s intelligence live?
If every command has to visit a distant server, an internet outage can make connected devices considerably less smart.
Our new practical guide explains how to create local controls and automations at home without writing code.

Does anyone out there have any opinions on using Home Assistant in a Docker container, as opposed to in a VM?
It occurs to me that shifting it into a container might make it a more stable experience, but I wasn't as familiar with containers when I first set it up.
