Ich habe mal wieder einen Fall von "Kleiner Fehler - große Wirkung" erlebt. 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣
Ich habe vor 2 Tagen ein #Backup meiner #TrueNAS #VM in #Proxmox zurückgespielt. Nach dem Booten hat mir TrueNAS den #ZFS Pool "Data" als unhealthy angezeigt.
Ursache: Dieser liegt auf 2 16 TB SSDs, die in Proxmox in die VM durchgereicht sind - und offensichtlich ist diese Durchreichung nach dem Rückspielen eines Backups nicht mehr vorhanden. Gut zu wissen.
Also die HDs wieder durchgereicht und die TrueNAS VM neu gestartet. Passt.
Dann liefen allerdings in den vergangenen 2 Nächten die Backups der VMS nicht mehr durch, weshalb alle VMs - leider auch der #Homeassistant - in einem nicht erreichbaren Zustand hängen geblieben sind. 😠
Ein I/O Fehler bei der für das Backup temporär angelegten VM-Konfigurationsdatei unter '/etc/pve/nodes/c2b-pve/qemu-server' brachte mich erst auf die falsche Spur - ich dachte schon shit, jetzt auch noch Probleme im Dateisystem von Proxmox.
Doch am Ende - zum Glück - weit gefehlt. Nach dem Durchreichen der HDs in die VM hätte ich diese auch wieder vom Backup ausschließen müssen. Da ich das nicht gemacht habe, lief während des Backups aller VMs schlicht und ergreifend das Backup-Laufwerk voll.
Nach dem Ausschließen der HDs vom Backup lief der testweise auf 12:45 vorverlegte Backup-Cronjob wieder erfolgreich durch.
Kleine Ursache - große Wirkung eben 🤣

I curiously wondered what these #CheerLights messages @Adrianlan was sending.
2 hours later I have an MQTT bridge setup and a vastly over engineered #HomeAssistant script and automation to target labelled lights with the colour change if they are on.
Learnt some new things on that rabbit hole.At least I didn't write yet another integration though which was my initial thought.

All my home automation devices in #homeassistant are connected via #zigbee and this has been rock solid.
I don't see this change any time soon.But, I also like IKEA's #tradfri gear, which are now #matter based. So I have ordered a second antenna to create a #thread network. Just to play with and see how it works. And to have some flexibility in the stuff I buy going forward.
It will probably take a few weeks to get here, so in the meantime I can pickup a Tradfri light bulb as my first/test device. 🙂

The more I use #homeassistant the harder it gets. If you are doing calculations I can imagine why people like to use #nodered. You can visually see what depends on what and which sensors are involved or behave in another what you expect . Checking values of sensors in ha is time consuming or I am doing it wrong.

Am Wochenende hab ich mit Home Assistant und node-red weiter gemacht und die Steuerung der Hot Tub Temperatur erweitert.
Heizen ist ja grad nicht so wichtig, aber der nächste Winter kommt bestimmt. :)
- Wassertemperatur Soll abhängig von der Lufttemperatur in den nächsten Stunden.
- Heizen mit günstigem EPEX Stromtarif (Stundenbasierend).
- Heizen mit PV überschuss.
- bewusstes Auskühlen und Überheizen außerhalb der Badezeiten.
- Abwesenheitsschaltung -
Ich habe mich jetzt für #PAJ entschieden.

Y'all. My solar powered Hermes debugged itself. SpeechToText was broken. Turns out VRAM was full because I made the LLM context bigger, so the STT model couldn't load. In the end, I used a smaller model and put it back on GPU, but check out what Hermes did autonomously when I told it to fix itself:
-The AI found that the system's GPUs were completely out of memory, causing the local speech-to-text tool to crash.
-It switched the setting to use the CPU instead.
-The change failed at first because the underlying code ignored the new setting.
-The AI located and fixed these bugs, updated the code to correctly read the CPU setting, and restarted the system.
-After reloading, the system successfully transcribed voice messages.Folks, LLMs may not be "intelligent" but they're capable at specific tasks. I checked Hermes code on Github and found this actual bug is real !!

The local solar powered AI server is tweaked pretty good - the 3x 2080 ti being able to pull near 750w is literally all 3 at max power combined. All on DDR3/PCIe3. And folks told me it would be slow 😆 Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q4_K_M.gguf is the model of choice for now, and grants a 256k context window.
