Ich bin einigermaßen verwirrt. Da mache ich in unserem Laborsetup einen simplen Schreibtest mit dd, ein Mal auf einen NFS Volume und ein Mal auf ein iSCSI Volume. Aus einem k8s Container heraus.
Beide PVs kommen von einem TrueNAS mit ZFS.
Und das NFS ist merklich schneller (190 MB/s) als das Block Device. (110 MB/s)
Irgendwer in deren Forum schrieb, dass das an dem ZFS hinten dran liegt.
Jedenfalls ist nun meine Argumentationskette futsch, die da bisher war: Bitte lasst uns auch Blockstorage konsumieren und nicht immer alles auf NFS. Blockstorage hat weniger Overhead und so weiter. Das Percona PostgreSQL Deployment spielt auch nicht mit NFS PVs...
Die Hypervisor im RZ haben auch nur NFS als Shared Storage. Habe ich so auch noch nie gesehen und wollte mir das was hinlegen und nun das. 🤷♀️

Moitas dúvidas por onde começar com o home server...
Tenho um Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 i3 6100T 3,20 Ghz RAM 8 Gb SSD 128 GB (mais vários SSD externos).
Seria para provar coisas singelas (acho eu): RSS, fotos, BD, livros, receitas, música, adblock, backup... vídeo, web, NextCloud (ou semelhante), Nitter...
Ubuntu Server? Proxmox? OpenMediaVault? Docker? TrueNAS? ZimaOS? CasaOS? Outra coisa?

I don't talk about it a lot, but I am a long time #overclocker (started in 1994) and computer builder. Just a hobby, not competitive. Just, very long time.
The hobby is not dead, at all. But it is radically changed by the #oligarchs trying to get compute behind a paywall as Moore's Law grinds down. (That is "#datacenter" and "#AI" to most of you.)
Here is what you need to know: #truenas, #xigmanas, #openwrt, #pfsense, #openmediavault, switches, routers, and parallelism. And #thermalpaste.

Welp, we may very well lose seriously the best #FOSS #NAS option we had, #TrueNAS at some point - maybe even soon. @[email protected] rightly mentioned that this smells a whole lot like the whole #RedHat/#CentOS debacle not that long ago. This sucks, but meh, I’m liking #OpenMediaVault more and more these days - prolly not as sophisticated, but certainly does the job and is super simple to setup (#RaspberryPi as first class citizen too).

I've now tried both. #UnRAID is easier to configure out of the box but is non-free even though based on #Slackware, and parity building always fails me 18+ hrs in. #TrueNAS Scale is free if more complex & resource hungry, with encrypted #ZFS #raidz2 ready for use with double parity within 10 minutes of 1st boot.
Both have pros & cons, but TrueNAS works as expected even on lower-end hardware where UnRAID parity fails. YMMV, but if you don't need to reuse odd-sized old disks TrueNAS wins.
