I have been so overly excited by the #FreeCORE project, so I went straight to their #Libera IRC channel and proposed a donation.

I've got a private reply, so I will not post it fully, but it goes like this:

"we have this page now; https://freecore.org/hardware - not sure if you might sit on equipment, but we are open for donations in terms of testing hardware"

Tenho um Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 i3 6100T 3,20 Ghz RAM 8 Gb SSD 128 GB (mais vários SSD externos).

Seria para provar coisas singelas (acho eu): RSS, fotos, BD, livros, receitas, música, adblock, backup... vídeo, web, NextCloud (ou semelhante), Nitter...

Ubuntu Server? Proxmox? OpenMediaVault? Docker? TrueNAS? ZimaOS? CasaOS? Outra coisa?

Hier mal eine Spezialfrage ins Netzwerk für alle die sich schon mal ein NAS selbst zusammen gebaut haben. Keine Ahnung, ob es Leute hier gibt.

Aktuell plane ich mit i5-14600T und Fraktal 804 - Macht es Sinn hier noch eine Graka mit einzubauen, um eine KI mit Ollama zu betreiben?

Das OS wird auf jeden Fall so Stand heute eine TrueNas Scale.

Storage for the OS, #TrueNAS #SCALE maybe? 32GB micro-SD to full size SD adapter. Nice that’s it’s on board and I also have the option of using an internal USB port.

@fyw321 @geerlingguy My 8 node cluster costs around 55W via POE. It is 3 pi4 8G control+worker nodes, and 5 pi4 4G worker-only nodes (1 is actually 8G.)

Storage is #iscsi on spinning rust on #TrueNAS, but you can do all this on local disks.

It handles a LOT:

- #Blocky (another adblocking #dns)
- #Jellyfin
- #Ombi, Prowlarr, *arr, Deluge

- #Ubiquiti console (bootstrapping becomes a chicken and egg problem though, if it goes down wrong)
