I had a failed cert renewal on my truenas yesterday and while searching how to trigger that job again I remembered there was no besides rebooting solution a while ago and still no results...
Investigation mode. You can do it at least on truenas scale:
sudo midctl call certificate.renew_certs
(It still fails, but this is another problem.. shell validator magic does not work where it looks ok and is fine with broken scripts 🤔)

I got the truenas proxmox plugin working.
2.1.23 fixed first issues, but I got some errors each time I tried to create a disk..
"Usage: Socket::Autoload() at .."Changed Socket::gethostbyname to gethostbyname (+ additional needed changes)
And 🥁 I can create disks on truenas 🤓
VM Snapshots do work too and a zfs snapshot is created. Nice.I am no perl expert (anymore) I doublecheck this and the current code in repo before I create an issue for this.

- I had to upgrade truenas to 25.10 (documented, just did not read :D I was on 25.04 still)
- still not working with wild errors from middlewared.. but I found there is an issue with changes on truenas side..https://github.com/truenas/truenas-proxmox-plugin/issues/58
it's in alpha now. the perl script to check if that works after switching to it was successfull. will try it later in the afternoon/evening.
not production ready yet ;)

Is it just me or does TueNAS Scale lack a feature to do file-level backups to a USB hard drive connected directly to the server?
I couldn't figure it out a while back but to be fair I was very stressed and tired at the time.

Quite happy with today's NAS upgrade. A new zfs mirror with two 500gb ssd's to house my Immich installation.
Sure its one nvme ssd in a pcie adapter and a sata ssd put together, but if it's stupid and it works it's not stupid.
And if anyone who actually knows ZFS saw me migrate those datasets then they would probably cry 😂

Ich bin einigermaßen verwirrt. Da mache ich in unserem Laborsetup einen simplen Schreibtest mit dd, ein Mal auf einen NFS Volume und ein Mal auf ein iSCSI Volume. Aus einem k8s Container heraus.
Beide PVs kommen von einem TrueNAS mit ZFS.
Und das NFS ist merklich schneller (190 MB/s) als das Block Device. (110 MB/s)
Irgendwer in deren Forum schrieb, dass das an dem ZFS hinten dran liegt.
Jedenfalls ist nun meine Argumentationskette futsch, die da bisher war: Bitte lasst uns auch Blockstorage konsumieren und nicht immer alles auf NFS. Blockstorage hat weniger Overhead und so weiter. Das Percona PostgreSQL Deployment spielt auch nicht mit NFS PVs...
Die Hypervisor im RZ haben auch nur NFS als Shared Storage. Habe ich so auch noch nie gesehen und wollte mir das was hinlegen und nun das. 🤷♀️
