@hydropsyche #Govee chose a quality sensor and has managed to package it in a attractively priced product. Even though its accuracy tolerances are ±5 µg/m³ to ±15 µg/m³ , that's still a good indicator of local air quality for non-scientific purposes.

It would be interesting if Govee made an IP68 rated version for outdoor use and #crowdsourced the data, like #PurpleAir does. Given how affordable these units are, one could see larger network of devices providing regional data for aggregation and local AIQ reporting.

Me, I am a temperature sensor guy. I have them in my fridge and freezer to mitigate food spoilage, one in a watertight container in my pool skimmer, one in a far dark corner of my basement to turn the dehumidifier on and off. One in garage to make sure it isn't too cold in the winter, one in my bathroom to turn a small space heater on and off in the winter. One in my gazebo so I know the outdoor temperature. I have two in my mum's 1960s apartment to make sure she's staying cool in the evermore frequent heat waves (set those up a few weeks ago after she called to say she wasn't feeling so good and I rushed over to take her to emergency where she was treated for heat stroke and severe dehydration. Govee will make sure that I have advance warnings now - plus we bought an AC for her apartment).

Yesterday I added one more sensor, their PM2.5 air quality sensor. It gets good reviews for accuracy (it uses the Cubic PM2008MS as its PM sensor) and is significantly cheaper than competitive products, at under $50 Canadian. This sensor is helpful because of the ever increasing number of wildfires and resultant smoke. While Environment Canada issues smoke warnings, smoke and associated air quality can be extremely local (think blobs of smoke that fall from upon high and roll through your neighbourhood). Having this sensor will warn me when AIQ is poor (it samples every 2 seconds and can trigger threshold alerts via the Govee app), and sadly, during smoke events, will also let me know when locally the AIQ is acceptable, giving confidence about when it is prudent to go indoors, and when it is okay to enjoy being outside.

Next up, I guess I'll need another one for indoors. Then the smart switches can turn on the Corsi Rosenthal air filters.

Zacznijmy od klasyki. Govee Floor Lamp 3 to bezpośredni następca popularnej „dwójki” (czyli smukłej listwy LED stojącej w rogu pokoju). Nowy model wprowadza technologię LuminBlend+, która dzięki zaawansowanej kalibracji Gamma ma reprodukować kolory wierniej niż kiedykolwiek (producent rzuca tu astronomiczną liczbą 281 bilionów odcieni).

Panel składa się z matrycy 616 diod LED, co pozwala na wyświetlanie skomplikowanych wzorów, animacji i gradientów (do 8 warstw ruchu i koloru). AI i rytm dobowy

Wraz ze sprzętem debiutują nowości w oprogramowaniu. Funkcja DaySync to odpowiedź Govee na „Adaptive Lighting” od Apple – oświetlenie automatycznie dostosowuje jasność i temperaturę barwową do pory dnia, wspierając nasz zegar biologiczny.

Firma wprowadza też AI Lighting Bot 2.0. To generator oparty na modelach językowych, który ma tworzyć sceny świetlne na podstawie naszych nastrojów lub kontekstu, ucząc się z czasem naszych preferencji.

Ceny i data dostępności nie zostały jeszcze ujawnione, ale znając Govee – będzie taniej niż u Philips Hue.

The #govee MQTT #homeassistant integration is interesting. Since I got a Govee light chain I have wanted to define my own scenes (however impossible that might be) and set them at will from home assistant. However, I just could not get access to them.

Their API should return it, which the MQTT integration uses (it uses ALL the integrations), however their API appears to be sorely broken.

For some reason I did get access to a single one of my home made scenes, and while it confused me, it worked, so I was happy. It had a strange lowercase name though that I could not understand where came from (The Govee app is confusing and has a gajillion different settings that are all pretty bad).

Well, I found it! If you take a snapshot of your current mode, then you get to give that a name - and _that_ will show up in the integration - after you restart the MQTT Govee addon, of course...

Does anyone know what smart RGB LED bulbs (and other lights) are the best? My requirements are that the bulbs are bright and work completely offline, ideally they can work with self-hosted software like @homeassistant

I've never had any smart lights before, but think it could look really nice. So any help would be much appreciated! <3
