I always ask similar questions like the following,

What will you do when you discover that the kernel of your favorite Operating System now gets programming assistance in any form of a power guzzling ocean warming large language model?

Will you fork the kernel yourself? Do you have the programming capability

There are a lot of folk who are pissed off at Linus Torvalds, for allowing some of his maintainers to use large language models to assist in finding bugs.

The Head Programmer of the fantastic and Beautiful curl also uses a large language model in some form, to hunt for bugs, because both he and Greg from the Linux kernel, saw that the LLM used on GitHub is now suddenly much better at finding those pesky bugs.

Mind you, the only LLM I like is the one that runs locally on my low powered Android phone. That's a micro LLM

Bei #keepass kann man sich das #TOTP ausrechnen lassen und es in das Autotype mit einbauen.
Bei #keepas2android kann man den QR-Code mit dem #Secret direkt in der #App einlesen und in die Datenbank übernehmen. Wenn man #Handy mit Desktop synchronisiert, kann man so das TOTP-secret am Desktop einrichten, mit dem Handy scannen. Super einfach!

«Passwortmanager bieten weniger Schutz als versprochen:
Forschende der ETH Zürich haben bei drei populären Passwortmanagern gravierende Sicherheitslücken entdeckt. In Tests konnten sie gespeicherte Passwörter einsehen und sogar verändern.»

Schade dass die @keepassxc nicht erwähnen, denn diese Open-Source Lösung war schon bei anderen eines der wenigsten positiven (siehe oben).

My biggest issue with 1password is that all of my passwords were cloud-based. Network failures, identity problems, or executive directives were all factors that could lock me out of all my accounts. Switched to one of the many #keepass-compatible solutions a few months ago and never looked back. #sovereignty

Am Tag des #WeltPasswortTag sollte man schon einmal die Passwörter in seinem #KeePass überprüfen ob nicht doch ein doppeltes dabei ist aus "alten" Zeiten und entsprechend ändern. Aber nicht nur das, auch die Zwei-Faktor-Authentisierung #2FA sollte eingeschaltet werden. Das ist auch mein #Tip für heute, schaltet diese bei eurem #Mastodon Konto ein. Das bietet erheblich mehr Sicherheit.

Does anyone have a preferred front-end to keepassxc-cli? I know there's a rofi interface shell script, but I honestly found it kind of clunky.

This is something that could be very easily and nicely shell scripted, and I wanted to ask if anyone knows of one out there already before I re-invented the wheel.

Ich nutze schon einige Jahre #keepass bzw. #keppassXC.

Heute fielen mir noch alte #Passworte im #Browser auf, die teilweise #Security #Warnungen anzeigten (Leaks und doppelte PWs).

Die habe ich jetzt alle angeschaut und die alten Accounts deaktiviert oder ein neues Passwort vergeben (inkl. 2FA).

Manche Accounts sind/waren noch aus den Nullerjahren…

Please don't use a #cloudBased #passwordmanager. Have a look at #keepass. The #lastpass #DataBreach should open your eyes. It's not just the most #secure, it's also #freeandopensource.

@Shine_McShine te faltarían Plexus y Syncthing para completar el stack de usuarie de Graphene jajajja yo uso mucho el segundo porque junto a KeePassXC tienes un gestor de contraseñas free.

Hay que tener cuidado al sincronizar (y te recomiendo activar el versionado de la carpeta donde compartas la base de datos de keepass por si acaso) pero es muy práctico. Quizá la curva de aprendizaje inicial no sea para todos los públicos pero es lo que hay cpn estas cosas toca romper unos huevos antes de hacer la tortilla.

Plexus sirve para ver que tal funciona esa app que te acaban de recomendar o que acabas de encontrar online y no sabes si te sirve apropiadamente en Graphene. Pesa poco, funciona bien y es práctica.

Edit: K9 está dead, se lo comió Mozilla para crear Thunderbird en android, por si no lo sabías (aunque juraría que habían puesto un banner dentro de la app asique es posible que esté siendo un poco replyguy, pido disculpas, yo me cambié a Thunderbird al poco de enterarme 😅)

This dependence on something running somewhere else (whether my server, or someone else's server) is one reason I choose to use KeePass locally.

I use Syncthing to keep copies on my other computers and phone.

Going to try this this weekend. If it's reasonable I'll migrate over. Their rationalle is pretty compelling.

CachyOS installiert und eingerichtet. Bisher funktioniert alles ganz gut.
Nur KeepassXC will nicht im System-Theme starten und sich nicht ins SysTray minimieren lassen.

Kleine Info zur eigenen Nextcloud: man muss die Versionen pflegen. Irgendwann funktionieren die aktuellen Nextcloud Apps auf dem Smartphone sonst nicht mehr. Das ist vor allem in Kombination mit einem Passwort Manager wie keepass wichtig.

For a while I thought #PassKeys were like a tech hype thing so big tech could lock us into their ecosystems even more, and then I started looking into them and their advantage became far clearer to me. They still have a bunch of problems for people like me that change their devices frequently, at least in internet time.
I dislike the idea of being locked out of my stuff because my device is bricked, so I started looking for ways to use PassKeys with something like #KeePass databases. The bad news for us blind folk, the more accessible Keepass app doesn't have PassKey support. The far less screen reader friendly #KeePassXC has far better PassKey support, but, as I said before, not half as screen reader friendly as the OG KeePass is, unless I am missing something.
#StrongBox, which is accessible on iOS can work with PassKeys though. This way, you can't be tied to one device.
