A primera vista, me gusta.

My experiences and recommendations on changing Search Engine (SE) to Mojeek.com:
- Shows results based on own indexes 😃, so no hidden US-base.
- Results are far less good but with option in settings you can have alternative SE's below on each page. It makes it very easy to seach on via e.g. Qwant.
- They respect privacy
- It improves by our usage and the USA will loose value.
- It an UK-based company, not using big tech at all (as far as I could research) -
@zoekeating.com
Hey, at least there is a UK based old school search engine now, that respects privacy, and does not use Google's index (like Startpage) or Microsoft's (like DuckDuckGo) at all - https://mojeek.com
Does it give great results all the tjme? Ummm, not quite, but at least it is a nice option to have, that is a "work in progress"

MakeUseOf: A truly independent search engine shouldn’t exist in 2026 — but it does, and it’s great. “Mojeek crawls and runs its own search index, doesn’t track you for advertising, and offers a rare sliver of peaceful privacy in an online world swimming in trackers, fingerprinting, profiling, and more. Now, this privacy is obviously wonderful, comes with significant benefits, and helps us […]

@greger Very hard to find. Both @kagihq and @Mojeek have this feature called Lenses/Focus which I find very useful; allowing you to search a specific set of domains, like online encyclopedias, small independent sites like blogs, university websites only, etc.
If I know I'm looking for hard facts from reliable sources and not generic and bloated content writing for ad revenue, I use those options.

One of the nicest features of the Mojeek search engine is the focus feature that lets you define the set of sites you want it to search on
This is a very good way to get rid of spammy, click-baity sites
Give it a shot - https://www.mojeek.com/focus/dashboard

@Mojeek switched to your engine as my default on #Firefox this week. Truly appreciate the hard work you are doing to be a true alternative.
Any chance we will get an update to the great search engine map you made?
Also, curious — which social media channels do you see getting the most engagement these days? Hard to keep up with all the new ones like #threads and #bluesky etc.
Just wondering which network has the most search engine geeks 😉

Primer intento de búsqueda con #mojeek. Not very impressed.
I'm going to try #Mojeek (search engine) for a bit and see how it compares to #Kagi. I'd prefer to pay and have no ads, but Mojeek seems very anti-tracking and privacy oriented, serving minimal, text-only ads. Kagi gets "no tracking, no ads, paid service" correct, but fumbled their response to some critical feedback, uses Brave as a source, and you can't buy their search product without also buying access to an LLM / AI chatbot thingy. Mojeek maintains their own index and crawler.
#search -
You're welcome.
I've been using #Qwant & #Startpage but I might give #Mojeek another spin -
This is a friendly reminder that you may still be sending every website you visit to #Google even if you switch to a different search engine. Change your Domain Name System (#DNS) settings to something besides Google to stop sending them all your web browsing information.

@pteryx According to the #Wired article [1], companies that have signed long-term deals with Microsoft will maintain access for the time being: "the largest customers of the #Bing APIs will retain their access after August 11, while smaller developers that were less profitable for Microsoft to support are being cut off".
#DuckDuckGo is cited as one of the companies who will retain access. #Ecosia plans to switch to #OWI.
#Mojeek and #Brave have their own indexes.

Mojeek on Mastodon: an algorithm update announcement. ” We have switched on an improved algorithm on https://mojeek.com. This improves general relevancy and navigational searches. I'm really impressed by Ironfox browser. It has builtin ublock origin with optimised settings, fingerprinting protection and a great selection of private search engines like mojeek, swisscows, mullvad leta, and duckduckgo html.

For many years I‘ve used DuckDuckGo for search. But we can’t have just one Google alternative. Choices keep a market healthy.
I love where @Mojeek is going. Especially that they use their own crawler (DDG uses Bing).
I had some indexing issues with Mojeek so I reached out to them. They not only replied, but offered excellent help. AND they followed up twice, unsolicited.
It’s worth a look.
