I have finally switched to linux for my Personal Computer usage! Thanks #freegeekpdx #mintlinux @veronica @b0rk and the uncountable others who make this socio-sphere welcoming and accessible!

So a little nut to crack for my #linux bubble: I am running #mintlinux on my external Thunderbolt SSD on the 2013 iMac. Problem is: When I suspend and then resume, the TB SSD does NOT wake up. System hangs -- because there is no root FS anymore!
I already tried iummu=soft and pcie_aspm=off in the grub defaults:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash iommu=soft pcie_aspm=off"

But that does nothing to help. Any other ideas how to wake the sleeping princcess?

After experimenting with #cachyOS, I’ve decided to stick with #MintLinux for now. Some of the apps I enjoy using are only available for Debian-based distributions.

Or any other Distro recommendation for someone who comes from #MacOS?

@angiebaby it's my go-to recommendation for most folks looking to try Linux. Solid, dependable, looks great, just works. I used it for quite a while back in the day, and I still have a soft spot for it. Well, the Debian edition, anyway.

With all the distros of Linux and versions of Godot and my knowing little about either, i've a curious situation & wouldn't know who to turn to for help. So initially I'm here on Masto. 🤗
Suddenly every time I load any version of Godot 4 it crashes upon starting new project. I say 'suddenly' but it could be since Mint updates. Its the Debian 12 version of Mint. Might anyone be experiencing similar?

3 weeks of using #Linux as my daily driver. Started with #Mintlinux to wet my lips a little. Think I'll switch to #Arch soon (by the way).

Been learning about i3 tiling window manager.

Never expected to get such an increase in battery life switching to Linux! 8h battery life is crazy!

Here's an irritating pattern. I run my computer(s) 42/7, Tor and/or BOINC. Both have external drives. Both have Linux freshly flashed with Balena. Both more often than not after a hiatus boot into GRUB. Why?

I lied. I never have used Arch. Settled on Fedora for Computer the Elder, which'll run Tor & BOINC 100%. Good to distrohop occasionally. Sticking with Mint on main.

No idea why Update Manager wants to replace linux-image-5.15.0-121-generic with an unsigned version and is unable to do so. And given that Flatpak security packages are left hanging, is this more than a niggling inconvenience?

E a saga da mudança de paradigmas continua. Já dei adeus ao Windows, Photoshop, Lightroom e X (Twitter). Pra substituí-los dei as boas vindas ao Linux (estou usando Ubuntu no desktop e Mint no notebook), Gimp, Darktable e Mastodon.
No processo de adeus o Instagram q vai dar lugar ao Pixelfed (já em uso).
Hj comecei mais uma mudança, o adeus ao Coreldraw q será substituído pelo Inkscape.
Viva a vida open source.
