Yesterday on my #LinuxJourney: couldn't get to work Double Commander's FTP plugin to autenthicate me with my SSH keys. Maybe the format of the public key was wrong, but why it even needs it, if neither Filezilla, nor SSH itself does. When I gave up on that pursuit, setting up Filezilla for 3 connections with different bookmarks was maybe 15 minutes total.

Also changed the icon of the "start" menu from Mint logo to a little heart. Didn't found a rainbow.

Dans la série “je découvre des choses tous les jours” : quand on regarde le contenu d’un fichier avec la visionneuse de #DoubleCommander, on peut passer d’un fichier à l’autre du même dossier avec Alt-←/→ ! J’utilise ce gestionnaire de fichiers depuis bien 10 ans et je tombe sur cette fonctionnalité de sa visionneuse seulement aujourd’hui !🤯

‹sigh› For like the sixth time, the latest #DoubleCommander snapshot – they come out about twice a week – wouldn't install. I don't know if the autobuild of the #AppImage is going wrong, or if #AppLauncher somehow got borked on my system.

Ah well, #LinuxMint 22.2 should be out soon, and that will mean a fresh install on the next M.2 in rotation, which should fix the problem if it's on my end.

Nemůžu si pomoct, ale příjde mi, že starší software resp. software navržený v dobách dřívějších je minimálně na Windows prostě efektivnější.

Na služební notebook s relativně čerstvou instalací Windows 11 už jsem si stihnul stáhnout XnView, protože defaultní "Fotky" se prostě nedaly. Dlouho startují a navíc nic neumí...

Dneska jsem si pro změnu stáhnul třeba takový DoubleCommander.

Any Windows Power Users here?

Is there any FOSS #FileManager for Windows 10 that isn't super slow and unreliable, has double panels and tabs?

I've tried #Files, #Spacedrive and #DoubleCommander but each of them either can't do basic operations without crashing or requiring me to wait a few seconds.

I thought switching from HDD to M.2 SSD will help - I did not.

#WindowsExplorer sucks - no dual view, no tabs... But all other options fig. make me want to punch the screen.

At the time I had been using Linux full-time at my business for about 4-5 years.
Soon I would take a Linux netbook with me for working abroad (running Ubuntu's netbook distro), along with a Nokia n810 as media station. The years 2009-2012 were, in my work, the second big wave of Linux on the Desktop. It was extremely fun and I'm still trying to recapture some of the enjoyment of those days, which faded a bit with the rise of the cloud.

I downloaded the 64-bit #LMDE 6 iso. Its #SHA256 should be "969…df4" according to the file on the Download page, and "sha256sum -b [file]" verifies that.

#DoubleCommander #FileManager has a "Calculate checksum" function, and the SHA-256 it produced was "e2e…27a". Then I realized I'd calculated SHA3-256, not SHA2-256. Might be worth adding that bit of specificity to the Download page.

@inzaghi89 Używam #DoubleCommander-a od lat. Jedyne co mnie wkurzało, to słaby preview pod F3. Poza tym spoko. Może daj mu jeszcze raz szansę?

Ciekawostka: DC jest napisany we #FreePascal-u a konkretnie takim otwartym #Delphi czyli #Lazarus.

A z innej beczki: #Dolphin z #KDE przekonał mnie do jedno-okiennych menedżerów plików. I tak coraz rzadziej teraz odpalam DC.

Ich verwende meist #DoubleCommander für solche Aufgaben, sowohl unter #Linux als auch #Windows.

Falls das ernstgemeint war 😁: Ich nutze #DoubleCommander. Klassisch two-pane, aber jeweils mit Tabs+Favs, mega-mächtig, individualisierbar, konfigurierbar, flott, #floss und #crossplattform

Früher habe ich unter Win mal Clover genutzt, das einfach dem Windows Explorer-Fenster Tab-Öhrchen verpasste. Leider #Adware geworden, aber es gibt Alternativen:
