Über Deskreen hatte ich vor einiger Zeit berichtet: Via HDMI-Dummy lässt sich damit ein Tablet als zweiter Bildschirm verwenden.

Aber es geht noch mehr: Rustdesk (evtl. auch andere Remote-Anwendungen) interpretiert ebenfalls den Dummy als "echten" Monitor und verteilt korrekt beide Remote-Schirme auf die physisch vorhandenen Bildschirme (es muss dafür kein Tablet verbunden werden).

Faire tourner un serveur #rustdesk (équivalent de #teamviewer) pour etre autonome pour la mise en contact et relai du traffic, c'est littéralement un "apt install".

Et ca marche mieux que les autres...

On reste sur un systeme d'identification avec un numero. Juste que l'annuaire est chez vous.

Si vous depannez mamie ou faites du support informatique et avez deja un pied dans l'auto-hébergement je recommande.

Można zdalnie udzielać wsparcia, tak jak na innych obsługiwanych platformach i urządzeniach.

Jednak proces wyrażenia zgód na użycie ekranu, klawiatury i zdalny dostęp to droga przez mękę i boję się, że dla przysłowiowego ZU nie do przejścia, co wyłącza to narzędzie w wielu zastosowaniach.

Macie doświadczenia z TeamViewer czy innych takich aplikacji? Wszystkie wymagają co najmniej 3-krotnego potwierdzania z oczekiwaniem (10sek.) aż licznik pozwoli kliknąć ok?🤔

Chodzi o zwykłe telefony, niezarządzane żadnym mdm czy innym enterprise android.

#Sectigo maliciously revoked #RustDesk 's code signing certificate because #VirusTotal says two engines are marking it as malware. Sectigo only give them 24 hours to resolve the issue, but most antivirus companies needs few days to resolve the false positives.

Now, all of the false positives are resolved, but Sectigo still no response for this incident for a week.

Does anyone have a remote desktop solution for #Linux and #Wayland that actually works?

#RustDesk disconnects after about 10 seconds, and #DWService gives me a garbled screen.

This is attempting to connect to a Fedora 43 Plasma laptop. Trying to support a family member that's clear across the country, RIP me lol.

No, I can't just use VNC/RDP and tailscale. If I had thought of it when I was setting it up, that would've been great. XD

Any ideas, #HiveMind?

If you ever hear me say, "Yeah, I'm going to install Linux on my family member's laptop that lives 1000 miles away, I'm sure I'll be able to help them out over the phone if anything goes awry," kindly don some really well-padded, oversized boxing gloves and punch me in the face as hard as you can.

One hour trying to help my uncle with Fedora to access the documents from his old windows HDD. I finally had to resort to using #RustDesk, which worked for about ten seconds at a time.

I also tried installing #DWService, which worked, but gave me a garbled, interlaced-looking screen.

Oh yeah, #Wayland is TOOOTALLLY ready for prime time, my foot.

I've started gradually replacing #Anydesk and #Teamviewer on all desktops I provide support for with #RustDesk.

What are people's #thoughts on #RustDesk ?

It's a very divisive piece of #software It's certainly very feature rich and it's very responsive too when I tested it.

But a lot of people are worried by the #China #relays problem and I see a lot of seemingly knowledgeable people talking about some of the traffic being unencrypted.

So I wonder what the clued up #Fediverse thinks? I'm especially interested from an #infosec angle, since that's the area where many eyes count the most.

RustDesk: удалённый десктоп через свой сервер ретрансляции

RustDesk — приложение для удалённого рабочего стола с открытым исходным кодом, разработанное для самохостинга в качестве альтернативы TeamViewer. Название такое, потому что программа написана на Rust. Работает из коробки, не требует конфигурации. Если установить сервер синхронизации на своём хостинге, то любые машины в интернете могут синхронизироваться и устанавливать соединение через наш сервер для удалённого управления рабочими столами друг друга. Трафик идёт напрямую между ними, но если это невозможно — тоже через сервер, до 3 Мбит/с (1920×1080). Клиентское приложение есть для iOS и Android (на КДПВ), что позволяет со смартфона управлять рабочим столом Windows, Linux и MacOS (и наоборот), а также обмениваться файлами. Есть ещё веб-клиент .
