@Lori_Noctis A few months ago I had to give a new life to my old Acer Notebook, and the best thing I tested was #Q4OS, which brings Trinity desktop. It seems like a very lightweight version of KDE.
It had a very good performance but I didn't get to test it in depth because the hard drive burned up.
The next distro that I tested was #MiniOS and it was to use it from the pendrive. -

@woltiv @davidgerard I switched the ol' desktop from 2010 and "TV laptop" from 2015 from Win10 to #Q4OS last year, and noticed that Lord of the Rings Online (a Windows game) runs *better* on those than it did in Windows.
For normal use (Vivaldi, VLC, torrenting, file and media server, etc.) things are far better than they were in Windows...

Vous vous souvenez de KDE 3, l'excellent environnement de bureau ? Il a été fork à l'époque du passage à KDE 4, et est devenu Trinity Desktop Environment !

Uso ainda esse laptop todo dia, mas o #q4os, antigo sistema, não atualizava mais.
Gostaria de instalar o #puppylinux, mas este sempre tem uma frescurinha ruim de resolver para dummies como eu. Mas há de ser.

I am looking for a way to do offline backups for Linux filesystems on x64/arm64/amd64 laptops to an encrypted (LUKS) disk.
I tried systemrescue. It works using fsarchiver but I have to manually mount the external disk per several cryptsetup commands.
I have written down the commands for several Linux distros I use but would like to boot from an USB stick on which either the commands are stored in a file or a sort-of automount works out-of-the-box.
I see several choices:
Customize system-rescue. I would have to do it for every new version
or
Use a distro on an USB stick which supports automount of encrypted disks.
Q4OS seems to be a good candidate. I don't know whether both versions of the live images support this automounting.
Any suggestions ?

@jrp @linux ja, ich habe auch mal Gerätealter 10+Jahre und RAM=2GB eingegeben, Was schlankeres als #MXLinux mit #xfce scheint aber nicht in der Auswahl vom #LinuxChooser zu sein.
Mit 32-Bit-Geräten wird es aber leider auch immer schwieriger. Ich hatte in 2021 mal recherchiert Olden but golden: Aktuelle Linux-Distributionen für 32-Bit, da gab es noch relativ viel Auswahl, aber nun gibt es auch für das aktuellste #Q4OS TDE, was immer eine sehr gute Empfehlung für sehr alte/schwache Geräte war (z.B. Netbooks), keine #32Bit -Variante mehr. Auch #LMDE und MX gehen nicht mehr. Was bleibt noch übrig? -

eine sparsame grafische Oberfläche braucht weniger Ressourcen und zudem laufen bei #linux auch nicht so viele Anwendungen im Hintergrund mit.

#GhostBSD was absolutely not fun with #Gershwin; I am also not that interested with #BSD to bother fighting the OS.
Tried #BesGNUlinux but it has issues with #Flatpak. Has an installer for flatpak built in but its super buggy and the apps do not appear in the system menus or in the finder app. Super lame.
Now in the process of testing out #Q4OS -

* #q4os est sympa mais je testerai bien si #debian y fonctionnera du 1er coup :p
* #linuxmint est sympa mais je crois que le vieux portable rend l'âme. A voir si j'achète une nouvelle batterie
* #ZorinOS est sympa mais la belle fille n'arrive pas à lancer les Sims4 dessus :p
A voir si je teste pas une distribution de plus sur chacun de ces machines ressuscités.
Celui pour la belle fille doit pouvoir faire tourner les Sims4 via steam (vieux pc) -
