  1. @EA7KRC I'd learn more about #SimpleLogin that #ProtonMail includes in their plans before exposing your new login name to other third party service providers

  2. I just realized the #SimpleLogin Android app hasn't had an update in quite a while (years).
an entirely different story with #Addyio app... interesting

  9. IT part: Hang on if you want to read, this might get long...

    - Passwords: on #ProtonPass (in synergy with #SimpleLogin) with family pass.
I'd prefer #Bitwarden (or #VaultWarden on PikaPods), but the bridge with SimpleLogin might get heavier. And migrating my family is a hassle.
    - VPN: I love my #mullvad but if I stay with Proton Pass, grouping subscriptions at Proton with Proton VPN would be good... Except that I tried it, it wouldn't connect on my Linux, I gave up and asked for a refund.

  10. Periodic update on me checking on projects for #SelfHosting #anonymous #email forwarding services
    - #SimpleLogin github.com/simple-login/app/ - python, docker, can plug it into OIDC, project owned by ProtonMail
    - #Addy github.com/anonaddy/anonaddy/ - PHP, docker optional, webserver can pass user in headers, integrating with SSO that way. Less active than above
    - #MailX github.com/ivpn/mailx - golang, docker, currently no support for external users

  15. I've been a user of #Simplelogin before #Proton bought it. Today, I'm deeply disappointed with @[email protected] @simplelogin because they disabled my account without warning. It has been 3 hours now since I contacted them and still no reply. It was a grave mistake to rely on them.

  17. @lyonsinbeta @chartier

#Proton owns and provides #SimpleLogin which is basically unlimited aliases. Lately they also integrated it into #ProtonPass which made it really convenient. I used to manage custom domains in the past for email aliases too. But then I found that I didn't really have to own a domain for that. Moreover, the SL domains aren't linked to my real name in public records.

  18. @constancies The only truly good thing in the Proton ecosystem is , which isn't even developed by Proton. They just bought it up. And you can use it with any other email provider anyway.

  19. @kuketzblog

Also z.B.

  20. @joy

I've been happy with #SimpleLogin for quite a while now. They recently joined #Proton which I think is a good thing but some have concerns with their CEO.

  21. Did someone tried to selfhost #simplelogin ?

I have some issue with it... Apparently, when I try to register an account, when I click on the button, there is an issue because it keeps saying that there is no SSL while on the page before the cert was there 🤷‍♂️

    If someone has an idea?

    Boosts welcomed 🙏

  23. Oh, interesting, looks like the #Zulip containers include the email server setup for sending and receiving emails.
So I guess "left as an exercise to the reader" is how to run multiple email servers on your infra, especially if besides this functionality for Zulip you would also want regular email server, and maybe something like #SimpleLogin
I guess it might be possible on a single IP with something accepting emails for all, and then talking to the appropriate server. Or maybe haproxy/nginx 🤔

  24. Tentativo numero uno di installare #SimpleLogin su una VPS: fallito. 💔

  26. So, creating a #GitHub account with a #simplelogin email with your OWN domain works, but marks your account as spam, rendering your account useless. They just don't want simplelogin accounts I guess. Well, guess I'm creating a gmail account just for GitHub that forwards my mails to simplelogin that forwards my mails to my real email. You wanna play games? I love games.

Stop trying to get my real email. It's not going to happen.

  27. @solomkinmv @fastmail I use #Fedora #Linux so, no idea about #icloud #mail.

But, if you're frustrated with @fastmail then, give #proton suite a try. They even provide #email aliases through #SimpleLogin. Alternatively, you could also try @Tutanota.

  28. Why tf does #github not allow a #simplelogin email. Annoying piece of shit..

  29. I spent the weekend setting up #SimpleLogin, a tool that allows me to create unique email addresses when signing up for things online or offline.

I've wanted to implement a tool like this into my digital security for a while. Now to start migrating all my logins.

  30. A #privacy question about @simplelogin ... if I use #aliases and #ReverseAliases, the service is great but domains (even premium) are sometimes rejected because detected as "disposable".

So I use my own domain (let's call it dom.be) and I register it on #simplelogin. By doing that, I can enjoy #simplelogin service and not be seen as using a disposable mail service.

But then, my domain is "exposed": a malicious counterpart might decide to expose dom.be everywhere and start spamming stuff like "[email protected]", "[email protected]", etc?

Domain is registered under my name, so anonymity is lost too?

Am I going too far? Is there a best way to do this?

  35. @leberschnitzel I've gone one step further and added an auto-create alias for my custom domain in the #SimpleLogin web app (simplelogin.io/docs/custom-dom) that lets me give out any working #email address as long as it has "nospam" at the beginning or end.

That way, I don't have to open @simplelogin's app to give a local business a unique address; I can just tell it to them verbally, write it on their sign-up sheet, or enter it at a #PointOfSale terminal like those made by #Square, #ToastTab, etc.

  36. I got this notice just a few days ago in the Pass app from @protonprivacy

#emerhub is a corporate secretarial firm offerin services in #indonesia #philipines and many other southeast Asian countries.
    emerhub.com/

Although I was in the breach, I was not informed by emerhub.
I wrote a salty email, let's see what comes back.

I'm just annoyed I did not use #simplelogin back when I contacted them for the first time.

  40. How I use @simplelogin

Its forwarding feature allows for multiple emails (that I so far haven't seen elsewhere). I took advantage of this and set up to have emails I receive from my #SimpleLogin email to be forwarded to my Zoho Mail, Proton Mail, and Google Mail accounts.

This allows me to have a backup of the emails I received in case I can no longer access one email account (for whatever reason), or I [accidentally] deleted the email and emptied my trash, only to find out later I need it again.

It requires some discipline, too. I regularly check each email account and review the emails.

Since the public-facing email address is a SimpleLogin email, I can also reply or send an email from any of the three accounts I am using, with no problems at all (a very rare feature in disposable email services).

This is good. For example, if I am at work where mobile gadgets are not allowed, and they blocked Gmail or Protonmail or Zoho Mail, and I need to send a quick email, at least one of those email services is guaranteed to not be blocked (usually it's only Gmail).

    #JustSharing

No, I don't work for #SimpleLogin nor am I affiliated with them.

  41. ... email seems a challenge as I need *unlimited aliases* for the foreseeable until I can migrate everything to *anonymous forwarding* (e.g. [#anonaddy], [#simplelogin])

🤫 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] for the past decade 🙄😬
