Apple then: “It just works.”
Apple now: “It doesn’t work—but the price still goes up.”
#AppleMusic is a disaster. #Siri is an endless source of frustration. #Siri: endless frustration. #AirDrop: failed. #HomeKit: device not found #Shortcuts: action only partially executed. 🤦🏻

With a free #ChatGPT account, you can create a five-file “project” (a customized GPT chat) using the files in the .zip linked below to help you write #JavaScript for use in #Shortcuts.
The main source is @gluebyte ’s excellent tutorial at https://talk.automators.fm/t/tip-running-javascript-in-shortcuts-ios-macos/16575
I also used my collection of JavaScript-based shortcuts, mostly published at https://routinehub.co/user/atnbueno, as a practical source of examples.
I’d love feedback on how useful (or not 😅) this project template is.

the timix timer is addictive! i keep coming back to it over and over again. it's just perfect for tinkering with all these shortcuts and automations. today i mainly use it for my meditation practice but it's so much more powerful than that! here‘s a summary of how i use the app

Well this #iOS27 beta bug (all shortcuts fail to run via voice) has stumped my plans for a demo. Really killed my vibe.
What to do now... 🤔

I literally just started about 2 months ago slowly adding back my 400 shortcuts. Slowly.
iCloud must’ve kept shortcuts around even after I wiped my devices? So confused. #Shortcuts #macOS27 #iOS27

Started cleaning up and locking down my iPad Air when I discovered I had somehow required Touch ID to open the Shortcuts app, which is not an option. Retracing my steps, I found it’s because I required it for the Home app, which makes sense because home automations are available in Shortcuts. Does the same on my iPad Pro with Face ID, both on iPadOS 26.5.2. Does not work on my iPhone 13 mini, also 26.5.2.

You know what? I don’t need shortcuts. I’ll just click through the menu, thanks

Fortunately for my larger shortcuts, I’ve kept up the habit of updating a text block at the top of the shortcut with the device, date, and time that I edited the shortcut. Makes figuring out the version to keep SOOOO much simpler. #Shortcuts

So I’ve been rebuilding my #shortcuts library since iOS26.4 or so due to bad syncing issues.
Since then though, Shortcuts has been syncing perfectly outside of the one time I hit the “Which version of the shortcut do you want to keep” pop up.

TIL: why it’s ctrl+V
Larry Tesler, the creator of copy/paste, explains:
The Lisa was the first system to assign XCVZ to cut, copy, paste and undo (shifted with the “apple” key). I chose them myself. X was a standard symbol of deletion. C was the first letter of Copy. V was an upside down caret and apparently meant Insert in at least one earlier editor.

I have a Shortcut wired up to the Action Button on my iPhone that shows me the most common stuff I need to do in a hurry. It's in Control Center on my iPad and now in the Menu Bar on my Mac, so I have a consistent "quick action" menu everywhere.

When conforming to DeleteIntent, is there a way to show the plural form of the entity ("Books" vs "Book") in the Shortcuts app?
DeleteIntent requires an AppEntity array, but it ignores the parameter title and instead uses the entity typeDisplayRepresentation (which is singular).
I filed this feedback @mgorbach: FB23451186

Apple, can you please explain why running Shortcuts & App Intents on an iOS 18 simulator works fine but fails miserably on iOS 26 and iOS 27?
Can you please fix that for this release cycle?

I’m finally ready to present Tokgen for #Apple #Shortcuts.
It is a tool that permits to generate custom token, that can then be validated by the same tool.
Tokgen requires Data Jar by @simonbs to work properly.
Be sure to check it out, and tell me what you think about it! Also consider supporting the project by editing the shortcut and adding features.

#Apple: “You can use #App #Intents to make your apps’ capabilities discoverable”
Also Apple: “We are the only ones that can actually invoke App Intents, you peasants have to run #Shortcuts to do it from your apps”
This, folks, is a monopoly. And they haven’t fixed automation.

In September, you will be able to create #Shortcuts by describing what you want. The one thing to remember is that it may not get it right the first time. That's ok! You can just prompt the AI until it gets it exactly the way you want, or you can edit it manually. It really is amazing!

With “Find…” actions in Apple #Shortcuts, is there a way to specify only the date part (not the time) for a filter?
I now I can omit the time part in my app’s queries but it’s not very intuitive for a user in my opinion.
Asking for a friend implementing #AppIntents.

Summary: They took a lot of shortcuts.
I'm willing to bet that at some point before the implosion the company owner said something like, we don't need all that namby pamby chicken s**t guvment testing.#titansubmersible #titanimplosion #Shortcuts

Can #shortcuts do this?
Create a time date stamp in a note.
Create a time date location stamp in a note.
Append that time stamp location stamp to the same note, as simply as a screen tap or screen widget?
That’s the shortcut.
That’s the shortcut I’ve tried to write.
I’ve gotten nowhere, and have seen nothing approaching this from the shortcuts community.
Perhaps AI Shortcuts can get there?

as part of my work for Pneuma Solutions, I've been working on an iOS/macOS Share Sheet shortcut to submit documents to Scribe, but I've been running into some walls with debugging. We're now looking for an expert in Apple platforms/Shortcuts who can help us troubleshoot, and we are absolutely willing to pay for your time. If you have the expertise or know someone who does, please get in touch. #iOS #Shortcuts #AppleShortcuts #macOS #Scribe
