https://www.techradar.com/vpn/vpn-privacy-security/privacy-giant-proton-may-be-building-a-web-browser-but-its-community-turns-cold
(Well, I don't rely that heavily on the Proton ecosystem, so I didn't notice any bug in existing products, but regardless, I also think they shouldn't expand more, because they already have a wide ecosystem which can lock people in, so it's basically Google. People should be taught to avoid putting all eggs in one basket, not to switch to another ecosystem just because it claims to be more privacy-focused. There were already some news that Proton handed over user data to authorities.)
(As for the Chromium base, I agree that supporting the Chromium monopoly isn't a good idea, although unfortunately it's necessary to use a Chromium-based browser for a few sites, web apps which don't play nice with Firefox.)Signal to add optional registration without phone number through one-time payment:

#Addy: Introducing Duo and Family plans

I just realized the #SimpleLogin Android app hasn't had an update in quite a while (years).
an entirely different story with #Addyio app... interesting -
Looks like the bad guys are using the email addresses harvested from the #CondéNast / #WIRED #breach. I just received this #phishing email on an #Addyio email address I've never used for anything else. I'll be deactivating the email address, of course.
I like #Addyio, but there's one important feature it's missing: I really wish they would implement an integration with #HaveIBeenPwned.

I tried to subscribe to a newsletter on #Beehiiv using a privacy-protecting #Addyio address. Beehiiv lets me subscribe, or at least seems to. It even lets me sign up for a paid subscription under that email address and happily takes my money. But I'm not actually receiving the newsletter, I can't edit my profile to add my name, and I can't comment on the newsletter's posts on the web; it says I need to log in to comment despite the fact I'm already logged in.

#1Password is integrated with only one email masking service, Fastmail. In contrast, Bitwarden has integrations with numerous services, including the one I use, #Addyio. Until 1Password gets around to adding an integration with Addy.io (which I'm not holding my breath for; people have been asking for this for a while), I guess I have to use the separate Addy.io extension for this. Definitely not a great UX.

Which email alias service do you use?

Ok, I think I did it. It took all evening but I moved my email aliasing to Addy.io, my email to my domain providers's email hosting, my password manager to a self hosted Vaultwarden server, and I was already running Baikal for my contacts and calendars. No more Proton services for me.

New Thunderbird extension: Addy.io / AnonAddy for Thunderbird
I’ve just released a new Thunderbird extension, “Addy.io / AnonAddy for Thunderbird“, which provides easy access to Addy.io functionality when composing email messages in Thunderbird. The extension mostly automates the process of replacing the recipient addresses of your messages–when you want to–with proxy email addresses that route through Addy.io, so the recipients will see an Addy.io alias for you instead of your real email address which you’re trying to keep private.
As I recently wrote, I’ve switched over to using Addy.io as much as possible when giving out my email address. I wrote this extension because I’m a heavy Thunderbird and this makes it easier for me to keep my email address private when I need to send email messages to entities I don’t want to have my real address.
The extension lives on GitHub, and you can submit issues or suggestions there. If you find this extension useful, please consider donating to support its continued development and maintenance. It takes a lot of time and effort to create and maintain Thunderbird extensions, and support is always welcome and appreciated. You can donate through Liberapay or Patreon for recurring donations, or Paypal or Venmo for one-time donations.
