  1. #Pachli Current now highlights the hashtags you follow. Within a post any hashtags you follow are shown in bold. The info area above a post shows a hash-marker and the first followed tag in the post.

This helps answer the "Why is this post in my timeline?" question.

The attached screenshot shows an example with the #mastodev hashtag.

Thanks to @neatnit, @_nibbles, and @quaff for the suggestions about this.

  2. Need a new laptop soon. Just ordered a for this purpose, now all I need is a !

I've heard of and , but neither is available to order in my region and I might have to go with whatever fake brand I find on Amazon. If anyone has any experience or tips to share here, I'd love to hear it!

  3. @Techaltar On Android I use : github.com/TrianguloY/URLCheck

On desktop, with Firefox, I select the URL, right-click and choose "Copy clean link".

More convenient than doing it manually, especially when copying a link with a timestamp!

  8. @TheLastOfHisName Have you tried GE-Proton? It's supposed to have better compatibility overall. Heroic Launcher can install it directly to the right place in Steam, which is probably the most user friendly way to install it.

Disclaimer: no personal experience, just stuff I've heard around.

  9. @zachweinersmith.bsky.social I totally disagree. It helps me a lot.

I haven't read books in a very long time and a friend talked me into giving a try. The version is fantastic, and really helped me get into it.

There's a lot of other factors but at the end of the day I guess we're looking for different things from (audio)books.

  10. @schnedan @lascapi Thank you, #gittyup looks great for my needs as well. Just installed it from Flathub, hope it's good!

  14. @constancies The only truly good thing in the Proton ecosystem is , which isn't even developed by Proton. They just bought it up. And you can use it with any other email provider anyway.

  15. @lolow First of all, good luck!

I believe OsmCha can be used to catch things like this, but I don't have experience with this.

However I know a lot about importing bus stops to OSM: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Gt

This is a script that I run every day to update OSM with any new data from GTFS in Israel. It works pretty well, if I do say so myself! If you want, we can try to adapt it to your region and GTFS feed.

  21. If I've never seen the codebase, which shell has the easiest code to read and understand? Specifically I want to isolate the code for *parsing* the command line syntax.

All -compliant (or close enough) shells welcome! I probably don't know them all but off the top of my head:

  22. @xmanmonk I know this is more than you signed up for, but The Lounge is a great web-based IRC client/"bouncer". If you can self-host or someone you trust can host it for you, it's a great option. Add a shortcut to your home screen and it works just like an app.

I am fortunate enough, one trusted member of a small community I chat in, hosts an instance and lets me use it as much as I want.

  23. @[email protected] @Metamedia I came from the future to tell you: this idea has become very popular recently! strangeobject.space/@esther/10 (after being boosted by @feditips)

Although I have to side with you, is *clearly* superior to .

  24. @[email protected] I love it! But (without the last r) is clearly the way to go.

(Sorry for adding to the sea of mentions!)

  25. @mike :)

I basically opened Mastodon wanting to share the exact same sentiment, but quickly searched first and found the easier option of just re-sharing what you've already said. #Trash80's music is so good and addictive, it should be illegal!
