Yay, the transition from BitWarden/VaultWarden to 1Password is complete. I'll still need to learn the keyboard shortcuts, especially for when I'm not in a web browser, but figuring things out in the interface and setting up TOTP 2FA/passkeys for things using 1Password turned out to be a cinch. At least I was able to import things straight from BitWarden right into 1Password. The only things that didn't carry over were custom fields and passkeys from BitWarden, but it's all straightened out now. #A11Y #Accessibility #Blind #PasswordManagers #Windows #iOS #1Password

It seems like the password managers I have looked at like #BitWarden and #1Password have had some issues recently. I'm hearing worrying things about #KeePassXC and #ProtonPass. And I don't think I can rely on a built-in password manager like the one in #Firefox. I'm open to self-hosting or simpler versions, but my tech skills are mediocre and it's not an area I want to goof. So what's is a user of this modern hellscape internet to do? -

@1password I hear you say that here but then I read this in the blog post.
“It suggested starting with Vault, which has its own API, dataset, and security boundary, followed by Billing, then AuthN and AuthZ, with Identity remaining as the core.”
That sure sounds like the crown jewels to me. So what on earth is actually going on? It may have been better to say literally nothing at all, because I’m beginning to question my trust based on this. This saddens me.

So I’ve logged into a website and the 1Password Safari extension has displayed a modal dialog asking me if I want to save this login to a new item.
This is despite the fact that:
A) I used 1P to fill in the login information in the first place, and
B) that the option to offer to save logins is turned off in the extension settings

@1password For me, #1Password died the moment it went subscription-only. Been using #keepassxc-compatible #keepassiumpro ever since on all my devices with a self-hosted database on a #raspberrypi, which is running 24/7 anyway, and never looked back 👍
